In my therapy style, I utilize relational, intersectional-feminist, psychodynamic, mindfulness as well as CBT and DBT models to integrate my work and tailor it to your needs and preferences.
I specialize in working with chronic conditions, mood disorders, anxiety, and life transitions, and I’m also experienced in working with folks who are struggling with trauma, ADHD, grief, and more. As your therapist, it’s my role to support you in meeting your goals, and sometimes even to develop a deeper understanding of why those goals are your focus. I will work with you to co-create the therapeutic space that serves you best. I lead with compassion, humor, and collaboration and I will at times challenge you when growth is within reach.

I specialize in strength-based, humanistic, psychodynamic, and feminist therapy.
My ideal client struggles with self-esteem, anxiety, and/or neurodivergence. They need reassurance, reframing of insecurities, support, and perhaps encouragement to advocate for themselves. Through therapy, they plan to achieve greater self-confidence, independence, and satisfaction with life. They may want a second opinion on their questions and troubles, perhaps due to societal invalidation, sexism, homophobia, and racism.

I use a feminist framework, validating how our social/cultural identities and political environment impact our wellness.
I believe you know yourself better than anyone else. I also believe humans are built for connection, and when you find a therapist that is the right fit for your needs, therapy can be healing. I encourage safety and empowerment during sessions, while compassionately challenging you to work toward your individual goals and embrace your intuitive sense of self.

My therapeutic approach stems from a sex-positive, feminist perspective that highlights the collaborative relationship between the therapist and client.
Attending therapy can be both beautiful and challenging, similar to life. A job promotion can lead to imposter syndrome, having a baby can lead to emotional exhaustion and frustration, or beginning a relationship can feel exciting and ignite fears of abandonment. As your therapist, I am here to support you in developing coping skills so the challenges in life feel more manageable. In working together, we can both give space to the more difficult moments and feel excitement for the beautiful things around you.

I currently ONLY have availability for IFS Level 1 graduates seeking clinical consultation/therapy. Resolving trauma can be a long and difficult process. It is comforting - and essential - to have a compassionate and consistent therapist as you walk the road to healing and joy. With over 25 years of experience and a specialty in treating trauma, I can help provide the roadmap to a healthy resolution. Many clients try to avoid distressing memories, but this is rarely successful in the long run. With the newer trauma-specific treatments now available, perhaps together we can find our way to lasting peace.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
