New Openings 4/1/24. I work with children and parents in need of support in dealing with a variety of child or family related challenges. Parents truly are the experts of their children and thus their role in the therapeutic process is vital. I believe in interdisciplinary collaboration in order to best meet the needs of every child and family.

Is your life turning out the way you planned? Are your personal relationships succeeding? Are you finding the right career for you? Do people know the real you? Too often we lose track of how we exist each day. Depression over past mistakes or anxiety about what might happen in the future prevent us from being who we really want to be in the present. The goal of counseling is to help you develop a better relationship with your 'self' in order to improve your relationships with others. Check out my video on YouTube to learn more about my approach.

Life can be difficult at times. We all have periods of ups and downs. It's when those downs begin to feel overwhelming, make you anxious, and negatively impact important areas of your life, such as your relationships, work, health, spirituality, and the way you feel about yourself that seeking professional help might be beneficial.

Congratulations on having the courage to change and to ask for help. Life can be a stressful process for all of us. Sometimes we feel alone and afraid and wish we had someone to talk to outside of our immediate family and friends. Perhaps we've tried the same behaviors over and over and wonder why we don't have different results. It can be very helpful to talk to someone who can look at our concerns and difficulties from a different perspective and shed new light. Once we feel deeply understood and become more mindful of our own values and beliefs, we are able to try new healthier behaviors that help us get our needs met in life.

I am a minister as well as a clinical counselor. Faith as well as counseling can help a person or couple work through problems. I have had over 20 years of experience in both worlds and am comfortable working wherever you are. I use many modern therapeutic techniques but I can also root them in ancient faith traditions. My orientation is Christian. Along with my private practice in counseling, I am adjunct faculty at Bangor Seminary and teach Grief counseling, and Spirituality and Healing.

I am best reached by email - thank you! I offer a personalized and practical approach grounded in behavior therapy and contemplative traditions and practices. We use your direct experience to build willingness, acceptance, kindness, curiosity and space in hard situations so that you can make choices (both big and small) that align with how you really want to be in this world. While I'm open to working with anyone, I have a particular interest in folks who struggle with "overthinking" and are looking to establish or maintain momentum in a mindfulness practice. Please see my website for more information: mindyslovinskylcsw.com

Compassionate Curiosity is the Cure. This is the simple and straightforward explanation of my philosophy and approach to psychotherapy. My primary model for treatment is Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, a classic model of treatment that focuses on reshaping core beliefs about self and others that often have deep and complex roots. I am a serious person by nature and take my work very seriously. Patients can expect challenging questions, thoughtfulness, and strong focus on getting to the bottom of unproductive thought patterns and habits (Curiosity), but with humor and caring (Compassion).

Meaningful and lasting change. Isn’t that what we’re all looking for? I am here to help those struggling with general anxiety, social phobia, mild to severe depression, or stress related disorders. If you are tired of dreading getting out of bed each morning, or wondering why you "feel this way" - I am here to help create change and turn off the "struggle switch." I work from a third wave behavioral approach (ACT) that will empower you with coping skills to overcome these obstacles. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but it can start today.

I often hear my clients tell me that they feel lost, sad, and hopeless. They are people from all different situations and are looking for meaning, connection, and help deciding what they want to do next. Life can be hard and scary, but by working together to understand trauma and what is impacting you, you will start to decide on solutions that feel good. You are taking the first step now, and you don't have to do this alone.
