Feeling stuck or overwhelmed? You may be managing anxious thoughts, low mood, or the impact of past experiences that still feel present. Stress, self-doubt, or perfectionism could be affecting your relationships, focus, or sense of self. You might feel like you’re never quite ‘enough.’ Therapy can help bring clarity and direction. With over 10 years of experience, I help clients understand their emotions, shift long-standing patterns, and reconnect with what matters most.

Additional training/specialised interest in couples counselling/relational issues & working with Adolescents.
Quote Pema Chodron- 'Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know'. It takes a brave person to reach out to another, whether it is for help with an issue you are already aware of, or as a means of understanding yourself a bit better. We can all become 'stuck'. I believe the potential to grow and heal comes from within. Alot of our life's struggles are relational, how we are in relation to our view of ourselves and how we experience the quality of our connection to others.

I work with adults and young adults who feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or burnout, many of whom are neurodivergent ( including ADHD, autism, and AuDHD), as well as neurotypical clients navigating anxiety, identity, or life transitions. My approach is neurodivergent- affirming and collaborative. I don't see your brain as something to "fix". Instead, I focus on understanding how your nervous system works, reducing shame, creating supports that fit you. Masking, sensory overwhelm, executive functioning challenges, and burnout are taken seriously here. Sessions are flexible and paced to your needs, show up exactly as you are.

Pre-accredited Counsellor & Psychotherapist, M.Ps.S.I. It is ok not to feel ok. When we have experienced trauma or difficulties in our lives, we may feel a low sense of worth, lack of belief in ourselves, or struggle in relationships with others. We may feel a lack of motivation, stress, anxiety or depression and find it difficult to cope. The pandemic is a current period of great difficulty which may also lead to such feelings. The therapeutic relationship can support us to heal trauma, losses or painful experiences we have been through, as well as to understand ourselves better.

I work with Adolescents (13-25), Adults and Couples.
Deciding to come for counselling can often be a difficult and drawn-out process. It is often also a very rewarding and enriching experience leading to changes in one’s life that reduce distress and increase one’s ability to cope with difficulties and challenges. By it's nature the process involves engaging with uncomfortable aspects of oneself and our relationships that are challenging. The goal of the process is to increase self-knowledge, self-acceptance and self-compassion to enhance our capacity to relate to ourselves and others in healthier and more fulfilling ways.

Those reasons vary from person to person and may include, anxiety, grief, loss, stress, depression, relationship issues, difficulty with trust, trauma, low self-esteem or coping with change in an increasingly changing world. Together, we can explore these issues and learn to break free of limiting patterns and beliefs that may be holding you back and take steps to move forward in life with greater ease and peace.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
