I believe that every person contains within them the potential for their own growth and healing, for moving from self-criticism to self-compassion, and for creating the change they want to experience. Therapy can realise this potential. I'm trained integratively, and work with your body and mine, and what occurs between us to access unconscious processes and facilitate change. I recognise and value the whole of you, working collaboratively to build self-awareness, decrease stress, and develop confidence, self-esteem, self-compassion and creativity, to enable more satisfying relationships, including your relationship with yourself.

It is undeniable that negative emotions and beliefs can greatly impact our lives. Sometimes stress and anxiety can make it hard for us to fully function or you’re finding the world confusing and life is just not making sense. Would you like to gain confidence in yourself and explore your addictive behavior? what would it be like to have someone really listen to you without judgment?

I have over 20 years of experience within mental health settings in the NHS and private settings. I believe therapy is about building a non-judgemental and trusting relationship, where we can work together to make sense of your mental health symptoms and find ways to develop more awareness and ways to cope. Finding the right psychological approach is key to the smooth running of this process. Therefore, I utilise a range of psychological approaches that I adapt to suit your needs. My aim within therapy will be to be curious, empathetic and honest and draw on individual strengths.

My main treatment approaches are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and EMDR.
I am passionate about helping clients intercept 'stuck' cycles by finding new ways of adjusting and coping. Many of the clients that I work with find themselves struggling with life demands or what the World Health Organisation (WHO) typically defines as 'burn-out' (ICD-10). Quite often they feel overwhelmed, depleted and unable to find an obvious solution to their problem. They find themselves chronically ruminating about the past or worrying about the future, leading to vicious cycles of depression and anxiety. These clients require a specialised therapist who can offer brief, effective treatment.

Theoretical Approach •Humanistic •Cognitive •Behavioural Psychoanalytic .
SERVICES I PROVIDE: Like all forms of therapy, integrative therapy requires that you are open to exploring your fears, your hopes, your life, what is causing you challenges, and what you hope for your future. But if you like the idea of a therapy which is a bit more bespoke and less rigid than other forms, then integrative therapy might indeed be for you. Would you like to try this type of therapy?

The main approach I use is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), however, I also use psychodynamic and person-centred therapy if I feel it will benefit you.
Admitting you need emotional support can be hard. Some people may feel like a failure, however, I see it as a strength. It is a huge step towards making things better. Counselling can help with a number of issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, panic attacks, phobias, lack of self-esteem, self-confidence, as well as relationship, work or family conflict. It can also support you if you are struggling with a bereavement, personal crisis or a difficult life transition.

I am a fully qualified counsellor working within the integrative model which means that I tailor the session to suit your needs that includes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Psychodynamics and Person-Centred Therapy.
Most clients that I see are suffering with anxiety, depression and stress. Most of this is caused by underlying issues such as low self-esteem, relationships issues and addiction to name a few. We're often aware of what our problems are but do not feel able to cope and need some support. Distressing situations and feelings can have such a destructive impact on our lives and therapy works by accepting your feelings, helping you to gain a different perspective, whilst challenging old negative beliefs; so you can move forward with a happier and healthier outlook on life.

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Counsellors

How does cognitive behavioural therapy work?

Cognitive behavioural therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophising or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioural therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioural therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioural therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
