On average, one in eight men will suffer issues concerning depression, but one in five will experience anxiety. Men find it really hard to open up about health issues, so I offer man–man online counselling sessions from the comfort of home. Suppressing emotions can have a significant and long-lasting impact on both our mental and physical health. When we dismiss our feelings, it can ultimately impact our self-confidence. Over time, we may feel like nobody cares about our needs or desires and that our opinion or voice doesn't matter. This can lead to feelings of inadequacy, low self-esteem, and a lack of self-worth.
Mental health treatment that involves one-on-one sessions with male therapists, or man-to-man mental health treatment, can provide specific benefits for men who seek therapy. Some of these benefits include a better understanding of men’s issues and how they relate.
I’m a registered therapist in London, and I want to remind all the men out there that it’s okay to seek help. We often grow up with the notion that men need to be strong and can’t show vulnerability. But remember, seeking help is not a sign of weakness but of strength. It shows you have the courage to take care of your mental health and loved ones.
