We specialize in perinatal mental health, grief, parenting, and burnout - particularly for helping professionals.
You're overwhelmed by worries, low mood, stress, grief, or impostor syndrome. Daily life feels like you're just going through the motions and you are sliding further away from where you thought you'd be. But you are not alone and it won't always be this hard. People come to therapy to move away from feelings of overwhelm, trust themselves again, and to find your voice again. We will create a relationship built on curiosity, compassion, and the belief that you are stronger than you think. Couples therapy for couples facing challenges in their relationship as (new) parents also offered.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with a focus on supporting individuals living with anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, and substance use concerns. After becoming a mother myself, my passion shifted towards perinatal (mental health from pregnancy to postpartum) concerns. I am currently registered as a Perinatal Mental Health therapist with Postpartum Support International. I work with mothers/parents to understand the changes that becoming a parent brings, challenge societal beliefs and expectations, and explore their new identity as a parent.

I emphasize skill-building for emotional regulation and better parenting, effective communication, understanding the differences between sensory overload meltdowns and “bad” behaviour or acting out, and developing healthy habits to love oneself.
I have spent more than 20 years working with families of children with identified learning disorders, in another field, I have watched the struggle parents and kids experience. Frustration, concern, joy, fear.. the emotional impact these identified 'LD' children and their parents experience as they navigate school expectations and daily life. The highs and lows. The lack of motivation and low self-esteem. These are the reasons, I chose to become a counsellor. I want to support both parents and children to build better skills, and figure out how to be and love themselves - just as they are - to provide a safe space for growth.

I have a special interest in working with individuals who present with diverse issues, including trauma, divorce, parenting issues, family life cycle transitions, grief, stress, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, addictions, personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder and codependence.
We all have a unique journey that adds value to who we are and how we can contribute every day. My personal journey took me down some challenging paths that required me to find new hope and build from the ground up. I feel that the hardships, challenges and triumphs I have endured can inspire and bring hope to others. I believe that through the toughest times of our lives, there is always a silver lining.

Burnout, anxiety and stress. Does it feel like you’re working harder than ever yet your goals feel increasingly out of reach? You might be exhausted from juggling your various roles and responsibilities while feeling like you should be doing more. You feel isolated, even when you're around others because they just don't 'get it'. You might feel hesitant to seek support for your feelings/experiences because they seem "not as bad" compared to the challenges of those around you. All of this aside, you know you've reached your limit and find yourself wanting something to be different.

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
