I have spent more than 20 years working with families of children with identified learning disorders, in another field, I have watched the struggle parents and kids experience. Frustration, concern, joy, fear.. the emotional impact these identified 'LD' children and their parents experience as they navigate school expectations and daily life. The highs and lows. The lack of motivation and low self-esteem. These are the reasons, I chose to become a counsellor. I want to support both parents and children to build better skills, and figure out how to be and love themselves - just as they are - to provide a safe space for growth.
My gentle approach creates a safe, nurturing environment where clients feel heard and valued. I emphasize skill-building for emotional regulation and better parenting, effective communication, understanding the differences between sensory overload meltdowns and “bad” behaviour or acting out, and developing healthy habits to love oneself.
With the proper support and tools, children and their families can cope and thrive emotionally and relationally. Your journey is unique, but you're not alone.
