My approach centres on AEDP, which uses attachment theory and the brain’s capacity to change in order to strengthen your internal sense of when things feel “right”.
Feeling secure within ourselves is our birthright, but it’s often not what our experience tells us. Perhaps you find it difficult to trust others, or connecting in a meaningful, consistent way. You might be easily anxious, self-doubting and ruminating, frequently wondering how you’re being perceived. Or you find yourself distant, closed off, but craving safe connection. As a therapist for the past 9 years, I collaborate with reflective adults as they teach their nervous system new ways to feel embodied safety, so they can thrive with greater assurance, confidence and authenticity.

We are wired for growth and healing. But we need the right environment. We need to feel another's presence—warm, safe, genuine. As an INDIVIDUAL THERAPIST I have been helping people for many years to transform, to become their authentic selves. My work is informed by AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), an attachment model that focuses on hope and possibility.

A humanistic therapist, Alli’s work is grounded in attachment theory, emotion and interpersonally focused, drawing from internal family systems model and accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy.
Alli is a registered psychotherapist and registered social worker who believes that meaningful therapy is a creative process that is holistic by nature. Alli’s focus when working together is to help you develop a connected and insightful view of your Self and to help you lead a more connected and meaningful life. Often this is rooted in improving the relationship you have with your Self and others. There are countless ways in which humans can strengthen their connection with themselves and others, and it is this creative focus that is required to heal from the past and to choose what lies ahead for you.

My relationship first practice pulls from AEDP (level 1), acceptance and commitment therapy, and internal family systems that work toward building a greater understanding of the self and finding a way forward.
Our environments - current, historical, and structural - shape who we are and the stories we tell ourselves. Challenging relationships, unsupportive environments, along with life transitions and stressors can impact your sense of self, how you view the world, and the path you walk. To those around us, this may present as anxiety, low mood, lack of motivation, anger/irritability, isolation from people and activities of interest. Within ourselves, this may present as feelings of stress, shame, guilt, and resentment towards the stories that make up our life thus far.

As an AEDP psychotherapist my approach is supportive, warm and encouraging.
We are all wired for growth and healing, and have a deep desire to be seen and known. Sometimes, what we encounter in life overwhelms us and we are unable to flourish, or even cope. Through the experience of feeling safe and supported, crisis and suffering provide opportunities to awaken extraordinary capacities within us that may otherwise remain inaccessible. Together we can address a variety of difficulties that may contribute to your sense of feeling overwhelmed, stuck and unable to move forward in life. Whatever challenges bring you here, I commit to supporting your inherent capacity to heal and to thrive.

I approach our sessions through AEDP, a modality I am Certified in.
As you go along in life, do you find yourself switching between different moods and hijacked by so many contradictory feelings and impulses that feel out of your control or conscious awareness? You may wish to live life more fully and meaningfully while you find yourself inhibited or limited with struggles between your wish for involvement in ordinary life and fear of leaving the house, mistrust of relationships, or hopelessness about future. In dealing with these personal challenges, you may feel flooded and severely anxious or in trying to disconnect or deny these responses, may feel chronically depressed and alienated from self.

As a queer woman with lived experience navigating mental health support, I know how transformative the therapy process can be when someone feels seen and empowered. I understand that feeling when something is off, when we aren’t fully in alignment with ourselves and how those feelings can impact the way that we show up in our lives. You may find yourself reacting in ways that don’t feel like you or find yourself having anxious thoughts or feeling like you’re stuck in patterns that aren’t serving you. I help young professionals on their journey to living a life where they feel supported, confident, and in alignment with their values.

Recovery from deep-seated emotional wounds is a uniquely personal journey, shaped by your own inner experiences. If you find yourself on this path, you know it's more than just healing from trauma; it's about navigating a complex emotional landscape. Seeking out a therapist can be a self-compassionate first step towards healing. Perhaps you're yearning for a sense of safety or a stable emotional foundation. Maybe your goal is to rebuild a stronger connection with your authentic self, rediscovering the pieces that were lost along the way. Or maybe you want to create a life filled with greater peace, joy, and fulfilling relationships.

Are you looking to feel more comfortable in your life? Do you notice that you are compelled to continue showing up in a certain way: perfectionistic, people pleasing, avoiding vulnerability, defensive, critical, worrying, withdrawn, down, anxious or burnt-out? If so, I know that you have tried to shift and can't find your way through. You want peace inside and ease everywhere. And you deserve that.

Hi, I'm Audette! I work with individuals that are dealing with the challenges of life the best way they know how. Perhaps you're turning to food for comfort, cycling between bingeing and purging, or exercising beyond your limits. Maybe you're pushing your feelings down. It seems like the better option, and yet you're constantly exhausted and overwhelmed. On some level this works, but deep down, there's a part of you that wonders, is this it? Is there another way?

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
