Life isn't always easy. We get hurt, confused, misunderstood. People we count on are not always there for us in times of need. Some of us de-stress with connection, some by being alone. This conflict can leave us feeling abandoned or overwhelmed. Therapy uses curiosity about ourselves to become more resilient, self aware, & relational. Not all problems get solved by random talking. My tools help you get unstuck and deepen your sense of intimacy with yourself and others. Your first time with therapy can be comfortable and productive. Check out the articles I've published in Psychology Today and call for a no obligation consult.

ADHD can present a diverse range of gifts and struggles that make it challenging to cope in a neurotypical world.
In our sessions I will create a compassionate, non-judgmental space where we can explore together the reasons that bring you to therapy. I want you to feel safe and comfortable in our sessions. I will help you learn new tools to build your resilience, address the difficult things, and support you as you grow. In my private practice I aim to empower clients to confront persistent problems in their lives and encourage lasting change. My approach is grounded in self-compassion and empathetic listening. I am inspired by my clients' resilience and I would be honoured to be a part of your journey.

I provide gender-affirming counselling, am a somatic experiencing practitioner for trauma (SEP), a trained DBT therapist, and a Certified Clinical Services Provider for ADHD (CCSP- ADHD).
I’m here for the parents who aren't ready to give up hope, and for the teens and young adults who are clinging to life. Whether because of trauma, of neurodivergence ( ADHD/ ADD) or the need for a more gender-affirming world, life has been rocky. It’s been difficult to connect, sleep has been elusive, panic has been setting in and the future seems sort of bleak. At least that’s how it’s been, at least for right now. So you're looking for a therapist who gets it: your gender identity, your life experience and your inner knowing matter.

I have years of experience supporting youth with ADHD, ASD and various learning and behavioural challenges.
I am happy to work with an extensive range of clients and organize my practice around providing Client-Centred Therapy grounded in empirically-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Additionally, I have lived experience as a first responder and am passionate about addressing the unique challenges associated with fulfilling such roles. In my experience working with people over the last 10 years, I've found that often their challenges are best addressed first and foremost by being heard; this act of listening is a gift that unlocks the resources hidden within.

I support clients with anxiety, ADHD, trauma, depression, high sensitivity and life stressors.
Welcome! In therapy, my priority is to create a welcoming, accepting and safe therapeutic space. My approach is grounded in a “whole person” approach, working collaboratively to use your strengths and work towards your therapeutic goals. With this space, we can begin to work on processing thoughts, emotions and/or traumatic events. Becoming aware of our thoughts, we can guide them to be more helpful and true. Making small changes by adding in coping skills and healthy routines can lead to a domino affect to positive changes to your mood. I work with children, teens and adults.

Life these days can be overwhelming. It's okay to ask for help. We do it all the time don't we? When moving a heavy table or starting a new project, we ask those around us to lend a hand. Life can be heavy sometimes and everyone deserves help. Whether you'd like to explore relationships, school, work, or want to process a traumatic event, I'm here to listen. If there's something you've been navigating throughout your life that you've never been able to weather, we can assemble a cradle full of tools that are individually tailored to your needs. I believe everyone has strengths, and we will pull from yours during therapy.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
