I use Prepare-Enrich, family systems, Adlerian techniques, and John Gottman's work with couples.
My goal is to travel with you on your pilgrimage to deeper self-knowledge, giving you tools for healing and emotional development as you shine a light into the shadow places of the soul. This goal is the same for individuals, couples, families, and groups. This can be a lengthy journey or a brief one, depending on what you need in your life right now. We will create a support plan together and have regular assessments in order for you to see how you are accomplishing your goals.

I believe that all persons have the basic right to be heard. We all have experiences that make us who we are, some of which we may need or wish to explore further or heal from. Together in counseling we can create a safe place to work toward agreed upon goals.

Whether you’re feeling stressed in your personal life (friends or family), professional life (work or school) or healing from something difficult (a trauma), there is a way through.
Do you feel like you’re stuck in the past and find it hard to be in the present moment? Are you so overwhelmed by anxiety and burnout that any personal/professional commitment feels exhausting? Has something difficult happened and your heart races or your voice gets shaky every time you talk about it? It’s possible to feel at ease and connected to yourself and others after experiencing anxiety, burn-out, or trauma. I’m passionate about supporting teens, Gen Z, and Millennial folks through these life events. I specialize in EMDR therapy for trauma, which helps people heal from trauma that feels stuck in the mind and body.

I use Internal Family Systems, Narrative therapy and EMDR as tools for healing and integration.
You have worlds to explore within yourself, so much strength to uncover, feelings to connect with, and pain to heal. My intention is not to "fix" you, but to help you reclaim your power so that you can feel confident in your innate ability to work toward balance and growth. My aim is always for you to feel safe, seen, and heard. In a world that seems to constantly pull your energy outward in a way that doesn't serve you, I want to provide you with a space where you can turn inward, with intention and compassion.

The goal of my approach to therapy is to get your defense system out of the way so that you can operate out of your true sense of self, begin to create boundaries, and make choices truly reflective of your own wants and needs. When you achieve this, you no longer need to rely upon the destructive coping techniques previously used to prevent your full evolution and integration of body, mind, and spirit.

As a mom you believe you can just do it all & once you get through the next big busy day you'll finally catch your breath. Except, those days never come. Trying to support your kid's emotional demands has you coming in last. As far as what others’ see, you’ve got it all together, you're living a happy & fulfilled life. You’re accomplished, hardworking, reliable & appear to be somehow rocking out the illusive life balance. But inside, you feel stuck, overwhelmed & like you’re just going through the motions. You never feel present in the moment & the overbearing voice in your head is quick to let you know you’ll never be good enough.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
