The main theories I use though are Solution Based, CBT, and Interpersonal.
We all experience struggles in life. I believe sometimes we just need a bit of help to overcome them. I am an authentic strength-based and solution-focused counselor who aims to assist my clients in them using strengths to find solutions and overcome whatever those struggles may be. I value staying open-minded, warm, authentic, and honest with my clients. I want to give you space to express yourself and feel safe. I see the world in "grey” not black and white. When facing challenges I believe there are many paths to improvement. As your counselor, I aim to help and empower you to explore them so you can move toward a better place.

These are likely to include dialogue, interpretation, cognitive restructuring, reframing, relaxation techniques, visualization, gestalt awareness experiments, self-monitoring exercises, bibliotherapy, exploring family of origin, attachment, systems theory, multicultural frameworks, and oppression awareness.
Many clients come to therapy for multiple reasons; most clients are seeking when the "anxiety" is too much to endure. I provide therapy for individuals-(children, adolescents and adults), couples, and facilitate process groups. I also am a multicultural educator. I help individuals cope with mechanisms that will help find ways to make different choices and re-invent ourselves; so we then become the architect, the planner and the builder of our lives, throughout our lives. I provide workshops and presentations that deal with undoing multiple oppressions in both queer and communities of color.

As a clinical psychologist I work with clients who are attempting to change unrewarding or isolating patterns of relating to others, or struggling to modify unproductive thoughts or feelings. The process of therapy as I practice it relies on developing a trusting and collaborative relationship between client and therapist. It is in this atmosphere of support, encouragement and respect that areas of concern and patterns of behavior can be understood and changed. I work with both individuals and couples. I have advanced training in treating depression, helping couples work productively in relationships, modification of addictive behaviors, and cognitive assessment.

I have advanced training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and I use third-wave cognitive behavioral (CBT) interventions to help individuals and couples build better coping skills.
I work frequently with individuals and couples who are motivated to gain more insight into themselves and who are struggling with career stress, overcoming early trauma and neglect, mild addictive behaviors, depression, anxiety, obsessive thoughts and behaviors, relationship conflict, and those who are trying to find a sense of meaning and purpose in their lives. My aim is to not only treat or view you as a set of symptoms, but to also help you acquire a deeper understanding of your self and from where those symptoms might be coming.

Two methods I often find useful are cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal psychotherapy.
I work with adults striving to respond with integrity and effectiveness to many life issues--particularly related to work, career, relationship, and mid-life challenges. My clients include adults dealing with depression, anxiety, performance impairment, stress-related conditions, as well as those choosing to "raise their game." Regardless of their reason for seeking therapy, many of my clients bring important resources rooted in their personal journey of faith or search for meaning. If spiritual aspects of your life are important, I invite you to share that in our work together.

My approach combines modern behavioral theory, relational work, acceptance & mindfulness skills, and techniques from both cognitive and somatic trauma therapies.
I work with young adults in their 20s and 30s who are navigating the transitions and tasks of early adulthood such as moves, breakups, career issues, and processing past traumas; teens dealing with the pressures of highschool; and parents who want to decrease conflict and improve their relationships with their kids. I also help people process past experiences of living in residential treatment settings, especially "troubled teen industry" survivors. While not all of my clients have ADHD, I specialize in working with both adults and youth who are diagnosed with ADHD.
