I enjoy working with a wide variety of individuals and believe that the therapeutic relationship can be a catalyst for an array of life affirming changes. Every individual has the right to find peace, joy and satisfaction in life. Often our inner dialogues, messages we've received from others, as well as traumatic and painful life experiences can interfere with our ability to find peace. In our work together, my goal will be to assist you in reaching whatever it is that you define as the best life for you.

Brianna empowers adults facing anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship challenges, and life changes through evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic therapy.
We all have a human need to feel connected – to our loved ones, our communities, and the world around us. Sometimes, however, emotional roadblocks or negative thought patterns can create walls that make genuine connections difficult. Therapy can be a powerful tool to explore these very issues. Imagine therapy as a safe space where you can freely explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors without judgment. Brianna's approach is collaborative and authentic, meaning you'll work together as a team to uncover how these internal factors might be impacting you.

I use a variety of different evidenced-based interventions including: Cognitive, Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based CBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and motivational interviewing (MI).
I am passionate about the benefits of therapy and taking time to create a deeper connection with yourself. I believe humans are beautifully flawed and complicated, and that by learning to appreciate our imperfections, we can gain a sense of peace and compassion for ourselves and others. New research in the field of neuroscience is providing evidence to support what many clinicians empirically knew: people are forever growing and changing. Interpersonal connection is the access-point to creating meaningful change in our lives from a place of kindness, compassion and free from judgement.

Look, we all can agree on one thing in this day and age: the struggle is real. In a world that is fast-paced and overworked, we often forget to process what is happening externally and how it is affecting us internally. And if we don't have the right tools to handle big stressors or major life events, it can be even more difficult to deal with what comes our way. Whatever your struggle is, I'm here to help.

Over the last 25 years, I have worked with diverse populations within multiple settings and I'm trained in Trauma Based Strategies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, The Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach, EMDR and Real -Life Experiences.
Are you struggling to figure out how to get through this most recent crisis? Or is it trauma from the past that is constantly keeping you awake at night or making it difficult to complete your daily tasks to include school, work and household responsibilities? Would it be helpful to have someone to talk to about whatever without judgment, censoring or worries about confidentiality? If so, it may be time to add a therapist to your list of supports. Therapy works when it is relatable, informative, evidence- based and provided by skilled clinicians. The first step is asking yourself is it time to start to heal.

Motivational Interviewing Therapists

How does motivational interviewing work?

Motivational interviewing aims to uncover a person’s internal motivation to change their life. Toward this end, the therapist listens, empathizes, and collaborates with the client based on their perspective; the therapist doesn’t adhere to a predetermined plan for change or impose their viewpoint on the client. Discovering an individual’s most important reasons for change, and guiding them to achieve those changes, can empower people to shift from ambivalence to action.

Is motivational interviewing evidence-based?

Yes, research shows that motivational interviewing can help treat alcohol and substance use — and in different ways such as reducing drinking, reducing resistance, and increasing the likelihood of staying in treatment. Motivational interviewing has also been shown to help people lose weight, adhere to medication regimens, improve diet for those with Type II diabetes, and improve healthy behaviors in children.

How long does motivational interviewing last?

Motivational interviewing is a short-term therapy that can last just one or two sessions. In some cases, motivational interviewing may be used in conjunction with longer-term therapies, but for most people, motivational interviewing is a brief intervention that aims to help patients understand their personal, specific, and internal reasons for changing their life.

What differentiates motivational interviewing from person-centered therapy?

In person-centered therapy, the individual is in the driver’s seat of the treatment process, creating space for them to trust their instincts and arrive at their own solutions. The two approaches are similar because motivational interviewing is also client-centered; however, person-centered therapy is more open-ended while motivational interviewing is somewhat more structured; the goal is to change, and the therapist helps the client specifically discover their internal motivations to modify their behavior.
