I have over 25 years' experience working with individuals adjusting to major life transitions and grief issues, depression, and anxiety. I have particular interest in helping individuals adjust to the illness and death of a child, parent, sibling, friend, or other family member. I received my doctoral education in Family Studies which integrated counseling, sociology, and psychology in understanding and treating major life transitions and family changes. I am also interested in working with caregivers and individuals dealing with career concerns. I will be very pleased to offer services to you!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. I believe that just like our bodies require regular check-ups, so do our minds. I understand that the process of selecting a counselor can be difficult and that relationship matters. Its important to find someone that is open to meeting you where you are, in a non-judgemental and honest manner. I offer individual therapy for adults and adolescents, with a primary focus and expertise on those that are currently struggling with anxiety, addiction, depression, grief, and trauma. Other areas of expertise include family conflict, difficult life transitions, career/vocational issues, and challenges unique to men during this season.

I have experience working in the field of mental health for over ten years, providing both inpatient and outpatient services. My experience includes treating adults and adolescents struggling with depression/anxiety and emotion regulation, substance abuse, trauma-related concerns, and serious mental illnesses. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques to assist my clients in reaching their goals and develop insight which leads to healing, peace, and acceptance.

Deciding to embark on therapy requires both bravery and vulnerability, and as a counselor, I consider it a privilege to witness and support individuals through their pain while nurturing hope for their recovery and personal development. My counseling methodology emphasizes fostering a secure and non-judgmental environment where clients can freely explore their emotions and thoughts. Danielle Ott is a Resident in Counseling in the state of Virginia and a Nationally Certified Counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselors. Danielle provides therapy and counseling to adults, teens, and couples who are seeking counseling for depression, anxiety, life transitions, self-esteem issues, and challenges regarding religion, spirituality, and the church. Danielle completed undergraduate degrees at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida, and Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. She also completed her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling at Liberty University where she graduated with distinction.

My experience working with at-risk populations has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the impact trauma has on an individual. I support and work with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Clients can expect to enter an accepting, welcoming environment so we can work together through life’s obstacles from the past and help you find peace in the present. I believe that empowerment is one of the strongest tools a client can have so I help facilitate that by holding client-led sessions where I am able to support your experience and help you voice your narrative about it.

I'm a seasoned counselor with 37 years as a licensed counselor. I have worked in emergency mental health in a hospital setting for 17 years and concurrently had a private practice. Prior to partial retirement, I worked in two local colleges as a mental health counselor. I took care of my ailing mother for 13 years and needed to be home more, so I signed on with Grow.

From day one I seek to help clients reach autonomy through treatment. Counseling, for the majority of individuals, is not something that should last a lifetime. Focusing on your goals, identifying barriers to progress, and seeking how to sustain the progress you have made is my philosophy.

I am Certified as a therapist in the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach(ACRA) in helping teens and families with substance use problems. Dialectical Behavior therapy is a model useful for addictions, cutting, and mood disorders. Attachment based family therapy, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior therapy.
