Many of us are taught to disregard the messages our bodies and emotions carry, initiating a distrusting and confusing relationship with ourselves and others. My work often focuses on giving you the tools and felt experience to release trauma from your nervous system, create inner safety, connect to agency, establish healthy boundaries, and re-connect to your intuition. Together we’ll work to (re)discover your relationship with your true inner voice. Through this connection and awareness, you can learn to trust yourselves and navigate through life’s obstacles and challenges with flexibility and resilience.

My virtual office is an intersectional-feminist space where we’ll explore society’s role in shaping your thoughts, feelings, and experiences through trauma-informed art therapy, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Somatic Experiencing.
As therapists, we're accustomed to being the ones who provide support, guidance, and empathy to our clients. But what about when therapists themselves need support? What happens when the ones who are supposed to have all the answers find themselves struggling with their own mental health challenges? Being a therapist for other therapists is a unique and deeply rewarding role, a role that I truly excel in. By creating a safe and nonjudgmental space, I understand the unique challenges therapists face, I normalize help-seeking behavior, and model self-care.

However, using an Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach, I can address various concerns across a broad spectrum of challenges.
Many challenges in life have underlying causes, and one's willingness to explore the deeper ends of who they are often provides an unexpected resolution beyond what could have been imagined initially. At the same time, it can also help to address what is at hand while being patient with more in-depth work. My goal in therapy is to follow my clients' needs and help them rediscover their wellbeing on their timeline while providing support and practical insight into their process.

My approach is to help you connect to your body and emotions in a way that helps you know yourself more deeply, feel more confident in your decisions. Using these methods, we can help, pull you out of depression & anxiety spirals.

Are you stressed out and overwhelmed? Is setting boundaries with people scary or even impossible? Are you anxious, self-doubting, or feeling lost? Maybe you're stuck on mistakes from the past or fixating on fear of your future. Or you struggle to say no to people because you're afraid of rejection or criticism or abandonment. Perhaps you're just exhausted with all of it, balancing everything nonstop for everyone else and yourself. Maybe you've forgotten how to be..you? You try to do it all but your confidence is lacking and you're feeling guilty over everything. You just need it to be...easier. Life wasn't supposed to be this hard.

I believe that therapy involves a collaboration between the client/s and the therapist. If a client is not part of the decisions, the ideas, the relationship, and the motivation, achieving the desired change is much more difficult. I understand that being in a relationship of any kind can be difficult and I believe that everyone needs help navigating the obstacles that we are bound to encounter in love, family, friends & life. I love being a part of that process. My role as a therapist is to collaborate with, empathize with, support, understand, and encourage my clients. I do this through face to face as well as tele/video therapy.

Your past is invading your present. Your emotions overwhelm you at times. Many of your relationships are unfulfilling - or outright painful. Your self-esteem is low to non-existent, and you often feel you aren’t good enough. Celebrating your successes is hard for you because you feel like you don’t deserve them. Your inner critic is your constant companion. And the worst part is: overcoming these obstacles seems like a huge mountain to climb. You don’t know where or who to go to for help. We all need connection more than ever right now. I’d love to help!

I work with a wide range of clients who seek support on their quest to live more intentional, authentic, and whole-hearted lives. I support the overworked professional struggling with stress management, burnout, imposter syndrome, or the search of their true passions. Or a new parent struggling with the transition to parenthood and one's changing identity. Or an individual experiencing relationship challenges, including communication style differences, expectations for the future, or looking for love. I am also well-suited to support family of origin or coming of age challenges, as well as anxiety and depression.

Welcome! I work with individuals who are looking to heal from past wounds and find their highest self. With a multidimensional background, I will meet you where you are and we'll explore the barriers that may be preventing you from moving forward. I believe you already have the tools you need. It takes a safe space with which to release the emotional weight and begin to see life with a new perspective. Our work together could be best summarized with the quote "Courage is not the absence of fear; courage is fear walking". It is an honor to help support you in this phase of your journey.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
