I specialize in helping clients with complex needs for change-making. Even the common reasons that we seek therapy – depression, anxiety & strained relationships - can become overwhelming. Especially, when we add conditions like non-typical brain processing (ADHD), unique ways of thinking (Asperger’s/ Autism Spectrum) & surviving chronic trauma (e.g., Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Dissociative Disorders). These challenges require educating ourselves about our condition, learning to believe in ourselves, developing self-soothing skills & retraining our brain structures that operate in survival mode.

I am knowledgeable about anxiety, depression, and trauma related to contexts from relational disruptions to totalitarian systems of power.
I support people who want to explore social isolation and confusion due to current social issues, body image and gender, relational wounding, disconnect, life transitions, aging, stress and trauma. I am also here for adult immigrants to the US to guide them through the challenging transitions they encounter and to explore their sociocultural identities within the present context of their life and their culture of origin. I also work with people who experience symptoms medically otherwise unexplained (brain fog, fatigue) that build on our unique neurophysiological patterns of reaction to stress.

I believe that one of the most healing aspects of therapy is the relationship between therapist and client which is one intended to be that of a traveling companion rather than an "expert"-"advice receiver". This is why I tend to pay special attention to the formation and maintenance of that relationship in order to help others explore what matters to them and engage with that in the face of mental health barriers. I have been able to work with individuals that find themselves struggling with lasting impacts of trauma, depression, anxiety, interpersonal concerns, and life transitions.

EMDR is well known for treating PTSD and many other challenges, including problems related to anxiety, autoimmune disease, grief, and family problems and other traumas.
I am now accepting clients in California as well as Indiana! I work in a Virtual ONLY practice and I specialize in EMDR for those with substance use disorders, trauma, or a combination of the two. If you are someone who is trying to cope with substance use, trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, chronic pain/illness, or leaving a high control group. I would be glad to try to help you find another, better way forward. And what that "better way" looks like is up to you. I see therapy as being a very personal and intimate experience for each person tailor my approach to suit each person I see in treatment.

Feeling the weight of the past holding you back? Looking for new and more helpful ways to heal and move forward? Wanting to lean into the healthiest version of yourself? Though it is not talked about enough, these types of challenges are not uncommon in this human experience and we all struggle, at points in our lives, with how we react and respond to different situations because of our experiences we've had that affect our thoughts, feelings and emotions. I believe that you are capable of breaking away from what no longer serves you and finding your way towards a more intentional and fulfilling life.

Do the same problems and situations keep cropping up in your life, no matter how hard you try to not go there again? The Hakomi method is highly effective in identifying often deeply-buried beliefs, feelings and experiences that keep bringing you back to the same old places. Once you are in contact with those beliefs and feelings, they can be changed or welcomed as you wish. "Using techniques that include gentleness and mindfulness, Hakomi therapy allows us to make new choices around old material, and to make those choices permanent".

I am passionate about reducing suffering. My expertise is in helping women and teens struggling with depression, anxiety, feeling stressed/overwhelmed or "not good enough". I help women on their paths to parenting whether they are dealing with infertility, experiencing challenges in pregnancy/perinatal/postpartum, or needing support in parenting their children or balancing the demands of their lives. I have 13 years of clinical experience and 10 of those years have been spent treating children/teens with depression and anxiety (and often self-harming behaviors) in an intensive outpatient setting. I understand the stresses of teens and connect well with them.

Feeling stuck and having trouble engaging with what really matters to you? Your brain has done an excellent job keeping you safe, but some strategies developed as a reaction to stressors may no longer meet your needs. Issues like family of origin discord, medical illnesses, neurodiversity, and stressful work environments can all add up to impact our relationship with ourselves and others. I especially love working with high achievers who have issues with perfectionism, burnout, dissociation, attachment, and procrastination.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
