I have a wide range of skills, am approachable and easy to talk with about anything. My passion is working with others who want to improve their life circumstances. Hi, my name is Norma, welcome to U Rock Counseling. I work with individuals ages 22-adulthood and specialize in trauma, grief, loss, loneliness, depression, anxiety, and issues unique to your stage of life. You will learn to connect to that joy that's been missing and feel the passion you once had. Your voice will not only be heard but also respected by me in a nonjudgmental and safe environment of empathy.

Counseling is about making positive changes in ourselves, our relationships, and the way we view our world. I work with you to help release unwanted patterns/beliefs, reduce depression and anxiety, unresolved old feelings that are blocking personal power. I work with clients to support their current needs and wants. You've already made the first step towards healing and creating the change you want/need. I have always viewed my work as a therapist as an honor and privilege to walk alongside individuals, couples and families to address some of their most sensitive and intimate struggles they've experienced in life. I work with clients ranging in age from high school into late adulthood. I have extensive experience working with marital and relationship problems, infidelity, divorce issues, those who might struggle with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, family of origin issues and trauma of abuse. I also have a special heart for those who have endured medical illness. Working as a therapist is my passion.

I have years of experience providing mental health counseling and can provide services to a wide range of ages as I have provided services to teens, children and adults. I have completed play therapy courses and am in training with the goal of obtaining my RPT (registered play therapist).

New Location - As of April 22nd, 2024 I take pride in helping clients find clarity in the expected, unexpected and everything in between. As we travel through life we all face times that are emotionally difficult and it can be extremely powerful to take the lead in getting back on track. As a therapist it is my pleasure to help individuals, families and couples find their way.

With over 20 years of experience in private practice, I have had the privilege of hearing many life stories, and each one is uniquely personal. I believe that each individual holds their own answers to their life struggles and that we all need a safe person to help us uncover those answers at times. I am proud that my profession has discovered amazing ways to help with the process of relieving symptoms of depression or anxieties that can affect our lives. I focus on adolescents, adults and couples work. I have specialized training in trauma focused care which incorporates EMDR and TF-CBT treatments. I also provide gender affirming care, working closely with the LGBTQ+ population, attachment based work, and have specialized training in treating depression and suicidal ideation/self-harm. I have a special passion for working with intersectional identities and medical trauma. I am here to guide the client while also honoring their stories and experiences to help them manage life stressors, relationships and traumatic experiences.

And in fact, it is. The feeling that our life has become unlivable is a sign that we are ready to transcend our current way of living and pursue a richer one, marked by greater authenticity and love. This sort of self-transcendence is a possibility for anyone willing to listen to the call, including those who have an interest in practicing therapy in continuity with their religious faith.

My main mission is to help my clients create their own life worth living as whatever that looks like to them in addition to working on building different skill sets to help them get to where they want to be. I utilize a holistic approach to help them reach their goals as I believe many aspects of that often get forgotten and are yet so essential.

I use many different treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I approach this work with trust building, careful assessment, and a specific plan for achieving results.

My approach involves using clinically researched methods to help clients make meaningful life changes and find workable strategies for dealing with their thoughts and feelings. Unfortunately, there's no magic involved in the counseling process, and making changes takes effort from both of us and a willingness to try something new.
