I offer long term, in depth, therapy for individuals/couples that are looking for lasting relief of symptoms and reconciling the issue(s) once and for all. A life shared is what we all strive for, however relationships can be very challenging at times. When you take two people and bring them together you are also combining different learning styles, communication styles, experiences and how you perceive a situation. The goal is to communicate effectively by being able to share what you think and how you feel.

Ever feel like you can’t shake your case of feeling like you are not good enough? This persistent feeling comes from trying to be someone you’re not. Constantly striving to be perfect or to fit into everyone else’s expectations depletes you. When you come to therapy, you get to drop the pretensions. You get to be vulnerable and explore the fears and tough feelings that you worry you can’t reveal to the people you love. As you get more comfortable talking, playing, and creating with me about your real wants and needs, you will build the skills that will enable you to show your true self to your family, friends, and colleagues.

It's important to find the right therapist you can trust. I have worked as a therapist for 34 years to help people heal and grow into who they really are. I work with individuals, couples or families designing intensives to specifically meet your unique needs and goals. Intensives are 1-4 days I length with 6-7 hours of therapy per day. Intensives allow people to stay with and move through difficult and painful issues. I incorporate action-oriented therapy techniques such as music, art, adventure therapy, and equine-assisted psychotherapy and learning.

Guys, you don't have to keep struggling with your problematic sexual behaviors. Life may feel hopeless and your anxiety may be higher than you've ever felt it before. Yet, it doesn't have to stay this way. My clients all have two things in common: 1) They want to be here for themselves, even when others are making them; and 2) They want to put in the work to achieve their goals. They come to me usually in a state of panic, depression, or some even come in when their world is nothing but chaos and out of control. When you're ready to tackle your issues give me a call.

You're feeling stuck. Perhaps you know what’s holding you back and haven't been at a place in life to address it, or maybe you’re just overwhelmed by all life keeps throwing at you. Either way, it's hard and it keeps getting harder. You've been thinking about reaching out for a while, but the timing has never seemed right. But now, it's easier than ever. You have options. You can meet with a counselor in their office, or if time or geography is an issue, you can access most counselors from your home on your computer, tablet or phone. It's time.

I have a passion for working with behaviorally challenging kids, their parents, and women. I enjoy the process of sorting through the outward difficult behaviors and discovering the root of their actions. I have worked with troubled teens and tweens for more than 14 years and have discovered that there is always more than meets the eye with these youngsters. The teenaged years and the few preceding years are difficult times not only for the kids, but parents and caretakers. It may seem that nothing helps manage their behaviors and emotions. I can help kids and their parents find solutions to defiant behaviors.

People ask me how I am able to listen to people's problems all day without going crazy and getting depressed myself. The fact is, if that was all that there was to it -listening to people's problems - I probably would go crazy. The great joy in my work, and the satisfaction, is in seeing people get better. This desire keeps me on the learners edge, and it is my passion. I am a capable guide who will respect your individuality and choices along the way while providing you a sureness of foot that only experience can provide.

Everyone is doing the best they can! I help people find their inner strength by providing tools they need to succeed. I walk hand-in-hand with individuals to build skills, gain knowledge, and change perspectives. Using Narrative, DBT, and a trauma focused approach I help individuals to take control of their life narrative. Life to me is an adventure of ups and downs where everyone has the potential to expand their emotional well-being. Through collaboration with the client, and often times a significant other or family, the therapeutic work done in session can promote a better quality of life. My experience in the social work field over the past 14 years includes working with client populations in medical social work, homeless and near homeless housing placement, and treatment for at risk client populations on the Rosbeud Reservation to develop skills and flexibility for working with most ages and client needs.

How can I find a therapist in South Dakota?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
