I have clincial experience working with individuals and groups in the following areas: depression, anxiety, grief, self-harm, anger and stress management, suicidal ideation, trauma, life changes, and relationship issues.
I believe in the transformative power of change. Learning to work with impermanence and change holds the key to our freedom. As we navigate life's unexpected challenges and transitions, I offer myself as a compassionate companion on your journey towards self-discovery and personal growth. As a trauma informed therapist, my therapeutic approach emphasizes authenticity, vulnerability, cultural humility, transparency and focus on mind-body relations. I incorporate mindfulness, somatics, and parts work into our sessions, recognizing that our inner selves are composed of various facets, each with its own unique needs and perspectives.

In addition to my expertise working with eating disorders, I have years of experience in issues such as emerging adulthood, life transitions, interpersonal relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, trauma, and women's health.
Finding the right therapist can be daunting, and I honor the courage required of entering therapy. I prioritize empathy, compassion, and genuine connection in my work with emerging and established adults, creating a safe and strong therapeutic alliance to support change. I primarily use an insight-oriented approach to therapy, helping clients better understand their own subjective experience by exploring past experiences and relationships and identifying patterns of behavior that influence their current presentation today; however, I adapt my approach to the needs of each client.

I strive to cultivate a supportive and compassionate relationship with my clients while also encouraging growth and accountability.
Could you use a safe space to process a major life transition? Are you looking for guidance on improving your relationships? I see therapy as a valuable tool to reflect on life, unpack how you're feeling, and discover what changes you can make to be more satisfied. My therapeutic style tends to be a good fit for clients who identify as perfectionists, struggle with anxiety and uncertainty, or who are experiencing stress from significant phase of life changes like a new job, marriage, or having kids. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and Certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C).

However, all research shows that your relationship with your therapist is the biggest predictor of therapeutic success.
I help individuals, couples, families, and executives improve their relationships to others and themselves. I combine insight, mindfulness, and experiential models of therapy to increase awareness of the process and patterns that keep people stuck and identify and implement new ways of being with themselves and others. I actively guide clients through different ways of thinking and communicating in session and will often assign “homework” to deepen this work outside of session. Trained at Northwestern University, I am an integrative and systemic therapist who pulls from a number of different evidence-based models of therapy.

My style of therapy is best suited towards clients who hope to develop a meaningful therapeutic relationship that can be used to better understand and address uncomfortable feelings and problematic relational patterns. By helping clients talk about disappointing and hurtful relationships throughout their lives, I have been amazed to see how well clients can make sense of what once seemed confusing and disorienting, ultimately moving forward with greater confidence. Additionally, I have a deep respect for the healing process that ensues when people can express their feelings and thoughts free of fear or inhibition.

My approach is psychodynamic and relational, where the therapeutic relationship is key in the healing process.
I support long-term couples struggling with conflict and disconnection who may feel unsure how to solve their challenges or rekindle their loving dynamic. I help couples improve communication skills, identify and express underlying vulnerable emotions, and ultimately deepen their intimacy and romantic connection. I also support folks with dysfunctional family and/or religious histories, who are interested in alternative healing approaches. This may entail witnessing the pain and patterns of the past, and then potentially reclaiming and reimagining their relationship with spirituality.

The individuals who come to me for support are those struggling with eating disorders. We work together to identify goals that are important to you, and address some underlying self esteem concerns and lack of power within your life. Together, we take your power back, eliminating the compulsive need to control food. The second population I serve are those with marital and relationship issues. I have completed Level 1 training of the Gottman method and utilize the strategies to help couples identify the ways in which they sabotage their relationship and restore the friendship that originally brought you together as a couple.

I work from a trauma lense to address relationship issues, parenting challenges and childhood trauma that are the cause of current life challenges you are facing.
The bravest thing you can do is begin to understand your own story. As a black woman, a sister, a daughter and a mother; I too have been in your shoes. Throughout life we are told we have to remain strong and we never get the opportunity to not be the strong one for once. This causes built up anxiety, depression and negative emotions which are then taken out on the ones we love the most. Are you ready to face the past trauma and experiences you have not had the opportunity to process? If so, I am the right therapist for you.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
