Therapy can sometimes feel awkward or uncomfortable. Being curious and open about our pains is not an easy task, which is why it is important to feel comfortable with the therapist you work with. The relationship between therapist and client is fundamental to creating a safer space in which this exploration can occur.

Most importantly, I harness the therapeutic relationship as an agent of change and means of modeling security.
My primary area of focus is with children and adolescents (both neurodivergent and neurotypical), as well as their family systems. I believe that regardless of or area of concern, we all need strong and supportive relationships in our lives, which I utilize when approaching behavioral concerns, mood conditions, and challenging family dynamics.

That relationship can be with yourself, your significant other, your children, your family and even your work environment.
25 years of experience in private practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist has given me the ability to create a warm and safe environment for change. Would you like to make changes in your marriage, family, children or work environment? Sometimes it is helpful to ask what the problem is, rather than why it is a problem. If you know what the problem is, it can be more helpful to solve. We use that philosophy in Brief Therapy, which can be effective for busy, active families and marriages in crises.

Erin practices therapy utilizing a psychodynamic approach which focuses on how our early experiences, and how areas outside of our immediate awareness, influence who we are and the ways in which we interact with the world. Erin commits to listening and accepting individuals as they are in an effort to create a constructive and fruitful relationship. She creates a safe environment where vulnerability is encouraged and valued. Erin appreciates that alongside life’s joys comes hardship, hurt, and disappointment and that amidst the pains and challenges of life, compassion, hope, and change are available to all individuals.

I find passion in working with individuals who are seeking therapy for anxiety, stress and burnout, life transitions, self-esteem, and relationship difficulties.
Welcome! I am so happy you are here. Therapy can be a scary and daunting step. Taking the time to address your needs, big or small, shows strength and courage and I will be right by your side with empathy and compassion. I strongly believe prioritizing yourself and being the healthiest version of you impacts not only yourself but also those around you. Exploring the things that make us who we are creates opportunities for change. Delving into our thoughts, feelings, and actions can generate transformation and growth. I value looking inward and outward in order to develop a healthy relationship with yourself and others.

Through a feminist and relational lens, I work diligently to empower my clients through their growth process. I believe that counseling should be as unique as the individual or relationship seeking guidance, and we will work together to find an approach that will fit best.

I hold a shame-free space for you and your relationship partner(s) to understand and reshape patterns that cause distress and distance. Part of my role as a therapist is to gently guide you beyond “who-said-what” so we can understand and honor the emotional roots of conflict. I aim to honor your life stories so far, while also empowering you to create the kind of relationship you want for the future. In addition to relationship partners, I also work with individual clients on gender and sexual identity exploration, trauma, and life transitions.

I understand relationship and work stress.
Are you struggling in your relationships? Are you and your partner experiencing conflict that you can't seem to resolve? I can help you understand the underlying issues and needs that lead to withdrawal or anger, and work with you to re-establish strong bonds. Together we will identify the negative patterns that repeat, learn how to interrupt those and to instead create positive conflict resolution skills. I am passionate about the work I do as a therapist, and I respect each person's struggle and strengths.

I maintain a general practice where I see a wide diversity of men and women for issues including anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and identity.
Life can be challenging. I believe psychotherapy with a therapist who is a good match can help one more successfully navigate those challenges. I work collaboratively with my clients. I aim to create a nonjudgmental and supportive environment to explore difficult issues together -- to better understand what one is currently facing, to help manage those difficulties, and to ultimately make life more rewarding and meaningful.

Therapy is at heart a relationship, two minds and spirits attempting to form a healing alliance.
In my 25 years of practice, I have learned some important truths: what happened to us doesn’t have to determine what happens for us; under the right conditions, the human spirit orients toward growth and wholeness; therapy can be an important addition to the healing process. People come to therapy for many reasons, often the initial phase of the work is in improving coping strategies so you can feel better sooner. Beyond symptomology, understanding you and your unique context are essential for unearthing longstanding behavior patterns. Therapy is about revising your story and making you the author of the next chapter.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
