Welcome to my practice. I believe that reaching out for help is a brave first step in the process of improving your life. I have been working with adults, adolescents and children for over 20 years Some of the the problems I treat are difficulties with mood regulation, anxiety, depression, reproductive issues, loss, relationship issues, school difficulties, sibling issues and parent-child struggles. I've seen that patterns of painful living can be greatly improved when we achieve a more balanced life.

The bond with a therapist is at the heart of the therapeutic process. Building trust, having a safe space and connecting are paramount. Today, more people than ever suffer with depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting difficulties/poor relationships and weight issues among other areas. They often feel SO stuck and unfulfilled. Clients come to me to make major changes. Therapy/Coaching are active processes. I provide a safe space for clients to be vulnerable, talk about painful issues/memories and grow/heal and push their limits. I know what it takes because I've also done it. I embrace the opportunity to help others to grow.

My work with children integrates play therapy, expressive therapies and parent consultation with a focus on strengthening attachment and mentalization skills.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 18 years of experience working with adults, adolescents and children. In psychotherapy, I believe in creating a safe and collaborative environment that can serve as a catalyst for self-understanding and change. Through open self-expression and close listening, I seek to shed light on the multilayered nature of problems and clarify various relational, emotional and thought processes that are involved. Depending on your individual needs the work of psychotherapy may include elements of deepening insight, strengthening coping abilities or implementing life style changes.

My specialty is narcissism. By understanding the dynamic between you and the other person, we can navigate the relationship and help you adjust your way of talking, thinking, and acting, which almost always successfully affects the other person's treatment of you. This can be a parent, friend, boss, or spouse. I have helped some couples dramatically change their relationship, even when only one part of the couple was actually my patient. If you wish to stay in the relationship I can help you manage it. Even if you and your partner don't meet a clinical diagnosis of narcissism, these tactics improve relationships and communication.

I provide individual, marriage and couples, and parenting counseling; anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance misuse treatment; and job & career support.
Burdening friends with your troubles drains your friends and leaves your problems intact, because friends aren't qualified to deal with your underlying issues. Through a warm and caring connection, I'll guide you as we explore issues that interfere with satisfaction in love, work, and play. So, if you're dealing with a difficult boss or the challenges of parenting, trying to start a relationship or moving on after a breakup, mourning a loss or experiencing a creative block, call me for reality-based therapy to help you find the joy in everyday life.

I'm especially interested in your experience of life transitions which can take many forms: emerging adulthood, becoming a parent, changing careers, shifting relationship roles and expanding sexual frameworks.
Starting psychotherapy can be an exciting and anxiety-provoking process as you take active steps to make changes in your life and relationships. I approach psychotherapy as a collaboration and work in an integrative way, tailoring interventions to individual needs. I believe that therapy's aim is not only to make improvements but also to manage disappointments. To this end, we can simultaneously engage in meaningful explorations while developing important coping skills, including mindfulness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. I offer individual, couples, and family psychotherapy to adults, children, and adolescents, and work with different family and relationship configurations.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
