I provide non-judgmental support, validation, and deep listening to adults struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma-related fears that can be overwhelming.
Therapy is about you. Your hopes and dreams, and your struggles and challenges. People come to therapy hoping to change and to find their way. And often, people come to therapy feeling lost and alone with their emotions, unable to share their sorrow with those close to them.

If anxiety, stress or lack of motivation is holding you back or making everyday life more difficult, please reach out to me for a free consultation. Together, my clients and I work to "make friends with our anxiety." This means, rather than seeing anxiety and stress as our enemy, we listen to what it's trying to tell us and learn to use it to our benefit. Rather than struggling against our feelings, our work will focus on understanding them and using them to help us achieve our goals and live a full life. I also specialize in relationship/family issues, ADHD, trauma, and college mental health.

I work with clients who are often struggling with depression and anxiety, as well as multiple other diagnoses.
I believe that it's important to recognize that each client I work with has their own unique set of strengths as well as challenges. We will work together to identify where and how life is challenging, as well as, identify and build upon preexisting strengths, values, develop and utilize coping mechanisms, create tools for self-regulation and increase mindfulness.

I also employ mindfulness-based practices to address chronic stress, anxiety and depression in clients.
In my work as a clinical psychologist, my goal is to empower clients to build a life in which individuals and families can thrive. There has never been a more important time than now for us to slow down, check in with ourselves, and gain new perspectives. My intention is for clients to bring healthy new habits back to their families and to gain control over lives that often and understandably feel ‘out-of-control.' In our work together, we will strive to cultivate a mindset that embraces flexibility through life’s unpredictability, as well as the extraordinary power of contentment in the present moment.

Therapy can address difficult situations but it is also helpful with normal problems in the normal course of life. I believe therapy helps to relieve painful and uncomfortable feelings and it can be a journey of self discovery and awareness that will lead to a more fulfilling life. People begin working with me when they are having difficulty adjusting to a current life situation and others seek to address their struggles with depression, anxiety, or relationships.

Imagine how your life would be if you could take back your control, breathe with lessened pressure from anxiety, and look with excitement towards your future.
You feel out of control. That casual drink or hit has spiraled to multiple a day. Your thoughts are jumbled and overwhelming, and you find yourself constantly looking for the source of your panic. You are sometimes terrified of how hopeless you feel and how difficult it is to get out of bed. Maybe you’re still trying to hide all these feelings and keep on “being okay.” It feels awful, isolating.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
