Narrative therapy is at the heart of my practice, allowing us to explore the stories and beliefs that shape your experiences and relationships.
Are you an individual who finds it difficult to release the grip of old patterns that keep you from experiencing true freedom within your relationships? Are you a couple having difficulty with intimacy, communication, or trust? I can help! Often times underlying trauma, anxiety, and depression can impact our ability to form meaningful relationships with ourselves and others. My approach is rooted in evidence-based techniques, combined with a direct and empathetic style that fosters growth and healing for individuals and couples.

Are you struggling to figure out your place in the world? No one seems to understand? School is not working for you, you aren't getting along with your family, you and your spouse or ex-partner aren't on the same page when it comes to raising the children, or you aren't able to decide how to move forward in your life? There are no easy answers to these problems and sometimes it is helpful to have someone you can talk to who is there just for you.

You feel like the black sheep of your family; like you never really fit anywhere. You feel like something is “off” but can’t quite put your finger on what is causing your discomfort. You may feel like you’re stuck in your past, unable to move forward and create the life you want. You’re tired of the same unsatisfying relationships that happen over and over again. You crave closeness with others but find it difficult to let people in. You worry about people leaving you. You might feel or have even been told by family in one way or another that you’re the problem.

We all face challenges, struggles and hardships, some more than others. Many have family and friends who journey with us. Yet, there are times when we need a trusted, trained professional to journey with us in identifying, clarifying and resolving issues that hamper our ability to live freely, with deep meaning. The support, empathy, insight and encouragement I offer depends on the type of issue you are dealing with. The broad range of my work involves trauma recovery, transitions, depression, anxiety, relationships and the use of spirituality as a vehicle for healing.

I utilize various modalities such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, MI and Narrative Therapy to help clients through traumatic events, memories or experiences.
Many people struggle with anxiety or depression and need support. Have you experienced traumatic events in your life that you're having a hard time coping with? It's hard to do it all on your own all the time. I work hard to build a safe and comfortable space for clients in order to learn coping skills that work for them and their lifestyle, re-process difficult memories, and work towards the life you really want.

I am passionate about the work that I do and realize that reaching out and asking for help can be one of the most challenging aspects of starting the therapy process. We all have strengths, yet sometimes we need guidance to identify what they are and how they help us to move through difficult challenges we face. I draw upon several theoretical frameworks which include trauma-informed care, strength-based, solution-focused, narrative therapy, and systems practices. However, I prefer to relate on a human level and focus on building meaningful relationships where true compassion and understanding can lead to meaningful transformations.

I work collaboratively with my clients utilizing Narrative Therapy & somatic techniques as my foundation while interweaving from the models of Attachment Theory, Jungian Psychology, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), & the Gottman Method.
FAQs: Only telehealth sessions offered in New Hampshire. In person AND virtual in New York. I do not accept insurance. / Holistic health emphasizes the connection of mind, body, and spirit. This is the essence from which I work. In doing so, my goal is to provide a safe environment while assisting you (or you and your partner) to evolve and create sustainable change.

Now accepting new clients. Everyone is at a crossroads during their life that they need to talk about issues that they struggle with. Whether it be loss of a love one, battling a substance use issue, a mood disorder or coping with an intellectual disability. Clients have a wide variety of issues that they are seeking to manage and to cope with in a better way. Many times a client is seeking someone to help them make sense out of something that, at least to them in the beginning, seems to be senseless. Answers and ways of moving their life into a forward motion is what many people seek in counseling.

My Philosophy in treatment is that each of us, myself included, endures pain and suffering caused from difficult life circumstances and from broken relationships. Each individual also possess within him or herself the gifts and strengths which build resiliency that helps overcome these obstacles in life's journeys. The counseling process is helping the client draw out these gifts and strengths and learn to develop them. I am committed to offering the same type of compassion to my clients that I would want extended to me or my family.

I enjoy working with clients who are motivated to make change and want to find ways to gain greater control of their lives. I believe impactful changes can be made for anyone who has a willingness to explore themselves on a deeper level including their personal history, relationships, coping skills, triggers, hopes and dreams. I believe it's important to maintain consistency in meetings, clear identification of goals and ways to measure personal success. I'm more than willing to dig into techniques that work best for a client and enjoy when people bring their own interests, passions, and ideas into sessions.

Narrative Therapists

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
