Hi there! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of New Jersey. I offer counseling services for youth, adults, couples, and families. I work with clients to build a therapeutic relationship, increase awareness, and identify coping strategies that will cultivate desired treatment outcomes. Primarily, I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy to address various problems.

I am a DIR/Floortime based therapist working with families with ASD and related sensory-affect and social-pragmatic language/communication challenges. At each stage I help you to begin to understand and cultivate your child's core Functional Emotional Developmental capacities. This includes learning to join in and attribute purpose and meaning to how your child is navigating his world; engaging your child in complex back and forth social-emotional-problem solving interactions with gestures and words; symbolic/pretend play sequences, peer relationships and full social-pragmatic language/communication. 65 Minute sessions in your home.

I've worked extensively with youth, adolescents, and adults providing individual and/or family therapy. I will work with you, in a caring and empathetic way, to provide tools and psychoeducation to assist treating ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder, trauma, and parent/child relationships.

Through a combination of therapeutic techniques, I engage my clients in identifying their beliefs and collaboratively develop new coping mechanisms that address their concerns. My counseling practice offers a warm and confidential atmosphere where the services are goal directed, aiming for resolution of issues and improving the quality of life within an optimum period of time.

Sometimes life can become overwhelming and people need a place to come to find comfort and understanding. I provide a supportive and accepting atmosphere. I work very well with children and adolescents with a variety of social and emotional difficulties. I additionally provide treatment to adults and teens suffering from mood disorders, family conflict, and sexual orientation concerns.

My primary interest is treating different aspects of trauma and Post Traumatic Stress disorder in adults and children. Trauma takes us out of our window of tolerance where we function optimally and either leads to a fight or flight response or dissociative numbness. It can also lead to a repetition compulsion when we repeat various aspects of the original trauma or redirected aggression treating others like those who caused us harm. I have a great understanding of trauma especially related to attachment disorders in children such as Reactive Attachment Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder as well as PTSD in adults

I take an individual approach to each client, tailoring my methods to a persons needs and issues. I use cognitive behavioral techniques to help my clients manage their issues (i.e. anxieties, relationships etc.) by changing counterproductive thought patterns. There are times in all of our lives when we could use some extra support. Dr. Lysandra Perez-Strumolo is a NJ licensed psychologist, an EMDRIA certified EMDR therapist, & bilingual (Spanish). Services aim to promote healing & development and to help clients experience a meaningful & healthy life, and further develop skills for coping with difficult challenges. Dr. Perez-Strumolo has specialized training the treatment of children, adolescents & adults with anxiety and symptoms related to psychological trauma (single, complex, or relationship-related trauma). Sometimes, you just need someone to talk to, someone who is a good listener and, most importantly, non-judgmental. Talking to a stranger about very personal issues is hard. It takes time to develop a bond and establish trust with a therapist. I am aware of that and strive to give the client as much time as he or she needs. Feeling worried and nervous is a reasonable response to uncertain circumstances, exacerbated by the stressors caused by the pandemic.
