Often times, we lose sight of the strength and power that resides within us. Anxiety, depression, & life transitions can dull our inner light. This can cause us to feel like we are helpless, but we have to remember that we aren’t. Stepping into the space of therapy can be frightening but there is comfort in knowing that you are not alone & are worthy of feeling seen and heard. Meaningful work with a counselor is done in a safe, non-judgmental space—all starting with a connection between two people. As Oprah Winfrey says, “It doesn't matter who you are, where you come from. The ability to triumph begins with you. Always.”
I am a LPC licensed psychotherapist. I offer services mainly through online Telehealth. I use integrative multi modalities like CBT, DBT, Psychodynamic, multicultural and holistic healthy life styles to treat depression, anxiety, ADHD, stress management, mood swings, relationships as well as the addiction issues. I am a dedicated, warm and interactive therapist who can walk you through challenging times and help you find the skills you need to handle both today and your future. I have relevant clinical experience helping clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, loss, relationship issues, general coping skills and more.
Anxious? Depressed? Grieving? Overwhelmed? If you are feeling like you are stuck, it can be difficult to move forward and out of these types of murky situations. Whatever your goal, I can help you to bring a positive perspective on your situation and teach you to apply strategies and techniques to bring manageability and even happiness back to your life.
I believe that my working for over 35 years with so many different people has helped me to continuously evolve into a more fluid therapist/healer. **In-person and teletherapy sessions offered** When feeling the need for help emotionally, reaching out for support can be very difficult. This is why my main objective in working with clients is to make them feel comfortable and understood. Often times, we deal with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, health issues, etc. without much emotional support, which is ironically when it feels we need it most. My therapy techniques take a collaborative, holistic approach so that I can understand my client and provide them with measurable, long-lasting change for an improved overall state of well-being.
As individuals we may feel angry, sad, anxious or overly stressed in our daily lives. As couples, we may have problems in our relationship that lead to conflict with our spouse or partner. As parents, we may face various challenges (educational, emotional and behavioral) with our children, and need guidance in how to help them, and ourselves. These life circumstances can erode our sense of well-being and strain our relationships in all spheres of life. They stop us from functioning to the best of our capabilities. I work to improve your functioning, decrease conflict and to make life enjoyable.
The most important thing I want to convey to you is that I am really excited to meet you. I am being handed an opportunity to connect with another person. I am often struck by how powerful this journey can be. You are bringing a host of emotions with you. Please know that I will do everything in my power to make you feel welcome, connected, understood and safe so you can openly share your feelings and frustrations. My office is the place for you to be you, with no judgments and nothing but a warm, listening and caring professional.
The ideal client is the client that walks into my office. Every individual has their own story to tell and walks a path of life all their own. I meet my clients with respect and compassion to their story, how far they have traveled, as well as the direction in which they wish to follow. Some changes are easier than others, and some can impact us in ways that we never thought it could. I hope to instill positivity and hope within my clients and cultivate genuine growth based on authenticity . I utilize an eclectic approach to attend to my client’s individual needs, integrating CBT, ACT, person-centered, and reality therapy.
Being a therapist moves me. I like people, and consider myself privileged when allowed to connect meaningfully and help to find out what moves and fulfills us. I see therapy as a SAFE voyage in understanding relationships with our body, self, and others. I can help you find your voice within, with your intimate partner, with co-workers, or with parents/relatives. Emotions of anger, frustration, anxiety, numbness, depression, and loneliness are signals and reactions to feelings of missed or denied opportunities, enforced conformity, being trapped or betrayed. Doubts confuse us. Is this love? Attraction? Belonging? Sex? And money?
Therapy is an art of working together and it can be one of the most transformative and healing experiences. There is no need to continue being unhappy !! As a mature counselor with 30+ years of experience working with people at times of crisis, I'll work with you to explore what is happening, how you feel, and what you need. If you have experienced a loss, have gone through trauma, immigrated or moved away, feeling alone even when surrounded by loved ones, bored, in pain, depressed, angry, anxious, unfulfilled, misunderstood or stuck. You are not alone. I can help.
In my practice, I strive to create a safe and comfortable environment where a trusting therapeutic relationship can be built. This has been, in my 18+ years of experience, the most effective way to ensure we can do meaningful work to achieve your goals. In this therapy journey, I hope to support and challenge you along the way, working collaboratively to help you live a more fulfilling life. Through my gentle guidance, clients are encouraged to be more open and introspective by identifying goals, becoming more aware of their maladaptive thoughts and behaviors, and empowering them to work towards their needs and wants.
My therapeutic approach works with Individuals, couples, families and groups seeking to have a more integrated way to live their lives while facing the challenges that can interfere with that goal. I am a psycho-dynamically trained psychologist who finds that initially focusing on symptom relief helps the individual begin the healing process. My work centers on assisting the individual or groups to break free from past issues that interfere with the present and that may impact the future. My many years as a former psychology professor and practicing psychologist has informed my practice with the latest techniques in mental health.
I have been in private practice for over 25 years. The foundation of my therapeutic philosophy is that no one should live their lives unhappy. I work with Patients who are experiencing all kinds of mental health issues from depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, OCD disorders. I follow the lead of my Patient and do not put them in a box or make them follow my lead. I am not taking any new Patients at this time.
