I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who provides professional counseling to those seeking hope and healing. I am a trauma-oriented therapist specializing in depression, anxiety disorders, and PTSD. I also specialize in couples/marriage counseling. I enjoy working with clients who have a strong desire for personal growth as well as experience fullness of healing and joy.

My therapeutic approach emphasizes a focus on subconscious motives & creativity forms of expression. I am Depth Psychologist with a PhD in Community, Liberation, and Eco psychology and a Masters in Counseling Psychology. I do not believe in fixing people, but instead in helping them explore the reasons symptoms and behaviors are coming forward, then working toward building stronger coping skills and resiliency. Evidence for the efficacy of depth psychological approaches to psychotherapy is growing as studies show that depth psychology has a longer-lasting and more profound impact than cognitive or behavioral psychologies alone.

As someone who has had their own journey with sleep, restfulness and dreams—I’m not leading you anywhere into the depths of the night that I haven’t been. Through deep listening, accepting compassion, and attunement to the nervous system, I help clients discover wisdom from within, facilitating healing and creating balance, union, and resilience in their lives. I offer a safe container in which it is comforting to open and share that which wants to be heard, felt, understood, and healed. I find it powerful to incorporate guided imagery, somatic awareness, mindfulness practices, attachment-based therapy, touch work, and creation of supportive rituals. During private sessions, I guide clients in building tools and resources to address what is happening in their present lives.

For the first 15 years of my career I worked as a family counselor in inpatient alcohol / drug treatment centers. In 1994 I went back to school for a graduate degree in social work. Since then I have been working with individuals, couples and families. I think it's very healthy to use counseling whenever it's needed throughout our lives. Much of the work I do is with couples and families who are struggling with communication - which is the bridge to close relationships. The teenage years can be really tough on teens AND their parents. Changes happen that can throw their emotions on a rollercoaster -- sadness, worry or anger can take over. Friends can push a teen toward dangerous choices. Add on the stress of high school, early romantic relationships, working towards independence, and there are all sorts of places that a teenager can struggle. It takes a special sort of counselor to work with a teen. Someone who is serious and kind when they struggle, but keeps a sense of humor, wonder and joy that can connect with them past those struggles.

I work carefully, with the contact between therapist and client providing the conduit for awareness, growth and healing. Most discomfort involves dissatisfying contact and the inability to slow down and look at fear, anxiety and what we want in a supportive and yet challenging environment. Let's be honest, most of us wouldn't go back to our adolescent years even if someone paid us to do so. Growing up is hard and life throws a lot at children, teens, and young adults. It is not uncommon to feel many conflicting ways about adolescence (and often times many conflicting ways at once). The things we face as we grow up impact our ability to engage, succeed, and feel accepted in our family life, our friend and peer circles, and in our academic sphere. It is my distinct honor to work with adolescents as they navigate some of the toughest years of life.
