I have been trained to use multiple evidence-based practices in my work, including Mindfulness Based Strategies, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma Informed Care.
Nobody knows you like you know yourself. Your past decisions weigh on you and stop you from moving forward, to a place of peace and growth. Your past does not determine your future, each day is a new opportunity to start fresh. You may doubt who you are or what you want out of life, but you are the keeper of your story and do have power over your future. Your journey to finding the best life possible begins when you decide to make the change. I consider it an honor to walk down the path of exploration with you. No journey is too big or small, I believe in honoring all of life’s moments with my clients in a nonjudgmental environment.

Therapy can be a great tool utilized to gain an outside perspective and possible new insights to the issues you are focused on resolving. Life is complicated and complex. It can be a great benefit to have someone that you can explore your thoughts with, without the worry of bias. Therapy can look very different for each person or couple and can be set up in a way that makes the patient feel comfortable. My goal is to create a comfortable atmosphere in which everyone can feel at ease exploring their goals and how their actions are helping or stopping progress. Goals may be related to an emotion, a difficult situation or other areas.

The path to a quality world can be intimidating for people. I understand how it can feel like it is one that you are on alone. My work with diverse groups: adolescents, people that identify as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples, and people with disabilities (PWDs) informs me of some of these challenges. My experience supporting clients in their path to wellness through anxiety, depression, trauma, disability acceptance, adoption/reunification, incarceration, personality disorders and relationship/intimacy challenges makes me confident in the progress we can achieve in counseling together.

My specializations include anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, chronic illness and other disabilities, personality disorders, geriatric challenges, grief and loss, and substance use disorders.
When individuals are struggling with their mental health, substance use, or other life stresses they might not always know where to go for help. My job as a therapist is to provide you with a safe space where you can separate these ongoing challenges, feel less overwhelmed, and take control of your life. We will focus on setting realistic therapeutic goals, empowerment, and not letting these challenges define who you are as a person. By working together, we can achieve stabilization to envision how you want your life to be.

I have recently accepted the position as clinical director for GRCS. In this capacity, I will be available as a consultant for other clinicians here, while also setting a clinical tone for the practice. On an individual basis, I see a wide variety of clients based on my experience in substance use treatment, outpatient therapy, corrections treatment, and trauma training. I have worked also with the severe and persistent mental health population. My stance is, “Tell me what you think the issue is, and we’ll find a way to address it.”

Hello, are you struggling with anger, anxiety, depression, past family hurt or trauma? Are you an adult trying to figure out what your future looks like? If you are I would love the chance to work with you to reach your fullest potential. Author Richard Rohr stated in his book Falling Upward “When you get your, ‘who am I?' question right, all or your, ‘what should I do?’ questions tend to take care of themselves” and I believe that it is incredibly important to start to answer that question and begin to move forward into a healthier life.

I have also completed a certificate program in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy for PTSD and other ruminative disorders.
I have worked extensively with individuals across the life span with depression and anxiety using cognitive behavioral therapy, breath work and mindfulness. I see depression and anxiety as disorders of rumination, getting stuck in ruminative loops of thinking they cannot escape from. I understand that most humans will need some assistance as they deal with very complex relational and environmental stressors. Most clients have a difficult time with learning how to be observers of their thoughts and emotions. We do have good evidence that treatment can provide relief by developing habits that support change and restorative growth

Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start. My clients struggle with anxiety, depression, life transitions, exposure to traumatic events, and PTSD. These symptoms often leave them feeling helpless, afraid, and like things will never get better. Even though you want to run. Even though it's heavy and difficult. Even though you're not quite sure of the way through. Healing happens by feeling. To work on yourself is the best thing you can do. You will see, in the end you're going to make peace with yourself.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
