About
I have worked extensively with individuals across the life span with depression and anxiety using cognitive behavioral therapy, breath work and mindfulness. I see depression and anxiety as disorders of rumination, getting stuck in ruminative loops of thinking they cannot escape from. I understand that most humans will need some assistance as they deal with very complex relational and environmental stressors. Most clients have a difficult time with learning how to be observers of their thoughts and emotions. We do have good evidence that treatment can provide relief by developing habits that support change and restorative growth
I am a Licensed Master Level Social worker and therapist and social work educator at Western Michigan University. I have worked with individuals and families for the past 30 years using evidence based strategies like Cognitive Behavior Therapy. I have also completed a certificate program in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy for PTSD and other ruminative disorders
