I specialize in three areas: couples counseling/relationship counseling, parenting issues, and play therapy for children. My professional experience has concentrated on helping all types of couples: single, married, and married with children. I am a certified Co-Parenting Specialist, which is a specialization that addresses parenting issues that arise from divorce. I am also a Play Therapist with substantial training in play therapy as well as many years of experience working with children, including classroom experience
both before and after becoming a licensed therapist.
When working with teens and adults, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is a method that helps in understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviors. When working with children, I employ play therapy. Children communicate more freely using play, and it's the preferred modality for children.
I have been teaching parenting classes in the San Diego area for over five years. I have specialized training in two parenting programs, "Redirecting Children's Behavior" and "Developing Capable Young People"; both programs are focused on raising self-reliant, responsible children.
