Feel lost, stuck, lonely? Having a hard time coping with a recent trauma? Going through a life transition? Open to a more holistic approach to therapy? Unlike regular talk therapy sessions, which may focus on surface issues and provide short term comfort, my holistic approach dives deeper for longer-term healing. My unique approach addresses the body, mind, and soul as they are all connected in the healing process.

Whether you want to shift thinking patterns, heal from trauma, adapt behavior, or are seeking deeper insights into your relationships, therapy can be powerful and life-altering. As a Psychotherapist and Leadership Psychologist, I partner with my clients to help them work through challenges so that new possibilities can emerge. When individuals or couples recognize how they make sense of their lives, their past, and their thinking habits, they move closer to living the life they want. My practice is psychodynamic, drawing on tools from a variety of modalities, such as coaching, yoga, meditation, CBT, and narrative therapy.

If I were to imagine an ideal client, it would be someone who wants to change no matter what their needs are. It would also be someone who is open to new and innovative treatment modalities. It is also beneficial to have someone who is not hindered in what they discuss. Everything is important.

**I am licensed to provide therapy in RI & MA** I don't believe that therapy has to look or feel like therapy as it is often represented. Together we can approach life's challenges in an intentional, action oriented, person centered and thoughtful way, in order to help break and change the patterns that have too often rendered you "stuck." To assist in making these changes, I provide the direct and honest guidance and feedback that is absolutely necessary to any successful therapy, while fostering an environment where you feel able to take the risks to grow, adjust, and adapt. My guiding principle is that change is always possible.

Overthinking, anxiety spirals, and emotional outbursts when the stakes are high can really make your life and relationships feel out of control. You've tried to solve, fix, or talk yourself out of your feelings because they seem to lead to so many unwanted experiences with yourself and with others, but no amount of telling yourself you're being unreasonable or that you "shouldn't" feel the way you do has resulted in anything other than feelings of guilt, shame, and frustration. You watch as your self-criticism about how you "should" or "shouldn't" feel spiral into feelings of hopelessness and even self-loathing.

I have been a child & adolescent therapist for 49yrs., & I enjoy my work greatly. I also work with parents who want advice and guidance about parenting skills. Children can change much faster than adults, and that is why I love working with young people. I try to support their strengths, encourage their creativity, relate to them with warmth and humor. I also work with parents with children, and with parents with teens if teens want me to. I like the challenge of connecting with both children and teens, ages 4 to 20. Connecting requires intuition and open-heartedness.

I believe we are all capable of improving our lives. Many of us become stuck or overwhelmed in the process due to self doubt, insecurity, lack of self esteem, past or present trauma and losses, to name a few. Seeking therapy doesn’t mean that there is something wrong with you. Life is challenging. Sometimes we need a little help in identifying and overcoming the barriers that hold us back. Therapy can be a powerful tool in helping you gain insight and strengthen your skills and confidence in developing new patterns and behaviors that help enhance the quality of your life.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
