I began private practice in 1986 but have counseled troubled families since 1979. My clients include struggling college students, couples in conflict, families in disarray, substance abusers, employers worried about an employee, seniors who lost a spouse or adjusting to aging, daughters in conflicts with their mothers, women in violent relationships. I use writing for wellness. I have created a 6-week intensive writing course to guide clients through PTSD and other stressors. I have taught this course online around the world and in sessions. I help clients understand how their beliefs and reactions to situations keep their problems in tact. Changing our perceptions isn't easy. You know you are on the cusp of changing when therapy gets difficult and you hate it. That is the courageous part. I'll hang in there with you. I do not write info for STDs, lawyers, courts, insurance, or other paperwork.
I journal on a daily basis and have published 23 books, articles on mental health and wellness, poems, essays, & short stories. I use therapeutic writing as an insightful tool for growth. Writing our narrative gives a new perspective of our experiences. I only make appts by phone.
