For those who are facing confusion, doubt, betrayal, disappointment or disagreement, we will discuss whether, and how, to repair, strengthen or end the relationship.
Whether you are: doubting your commitment to your relationship; searching for ways to make your relationship work; feeling unsure of what you want; or wanting to work on the communication or intimacy that will help you grow closer together— you are welcome in my virtual therapy room. In working with couples, I view the relationship as my client. For those who want to stay together, I help couples navigate their difference — cultural, racial, or otherwise — and to articulate their love and commitment to one another. As a therapist my goal is to help couples fulfil the hopes they have for their relationship.

Imago therapy is an amazing relationship technology that very quickly gets us back to safe communication and experiencing our partner as a source of emotional safety, and passionate friendship. In my 35 years of working with couples as a specialty, Imago is the best system I have known to get us back to that feeling that we had in the beginning of our relationship. Its structured communication techniques distinguish it from all other types of couples therapy. the process itself feels very nonthreatening to both partners.

The quality of the therapeutic alliance is a well-established factor for successful therapy outcomes. Part of what creates a strong therapeutic alliance is conveying to another human being that every part of that whole person is important and worthy; every part of them. Part of what builds a strong therapeutic alliance is showing the person that you can tolerate and hold their pain and suffering. I've worked extensively with individuals experiencing history of trauma, homelessness, chronic mental illness, domestic, violence, and substance abuse. I take a heartfelt and impassioned approach to the clinical work I do.

Are you wanting to start therapy for the first time or wanting to jump back in and feeling unsure? Starting for the first time or getting back in to therapy can bring up a lot of feelings and thoughts. If you’re wondering if now is the right time, it probably is. You may be feeling lost in your life and wondering what the next step is. Maybe you feel disconnected or unfulfilled in relationships or at work or school. You may find that you tend to be more concerned with how others feel than how you feel. Maybe you’re wishing that your life had more purpose or meaning. You may be wondering if couples therapy would work for you.

Are you sad, anxious or do you feel alone? Perhaps you realize that emotional pain doesn’t just “go away”. It stings and lingers as you attempt to reconcile that some of your relationships were toxic. You may have concluded that you have an overall pattern of interpersonal conduct that yields poor results at home, school or work. You find yourself in poor relationships, feeling isolated and can’t seem to stop the cycle. Although you are working hard, you are plagued with self doubt and crippled by fears. You may avoid to feel safe. You want to improve your outcomes but you end up with resentments as you attempt to relate to others.

Hi! Thank you for reading my bio. I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist that is certified in treating trauma and ADHD using different modalities including EMDR. I also provide treatment for Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs), anxiety, anger, depression, and marital/premarital counseling. It is through life experiences that we can gain wisdom. My approach begins at the root cause of the symptom- working backwards which leads to healing through self-compassion.

I believe the most effective therapy begins in a trusting and judgment-free zone — a space where you feel safe being honest with yourself about your values, needs, and desires. Together we will explore your struggles, fears, and feelings of being "stuck." I am here to help you discover alternative ways of existing that feel in alignment to your true Self, whether this looks like improving your relationships, increasing intimacy, developing better communication skills, or setting healthy boundaries. You are not alone in this process. Together, we can identify how to use your uniqueness and strengths to achieve your goals.

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
