I have more than 30 years of professional practice helping people with all kinds of problems and issues. I enjoy knowing I can make a positive difference in a persons life. I have experience working with clients whose gender identity, socioeconomic class, race and/or ethnicity have historically been marginalized. My main goal is to help you achieve greater independence so you can better cope with current and future issues.

I believe therapy is a process that takes effort from both the client and the therapist working together to achieve the client's goals. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other therapies, I show my clients how they can replace their current thoughts with more positive and adaptive thoughts, which will change their mood and behaviors. I believe that clients have control of their treatment and can achieve a lot more than they think they can. I will work with clients in providing the skills that will help them achieve their goals. I am licensed in both Iowa and Nebraska and can diagnose co-occurring disorders.

I believe that every person has value and is meant to be on this earth. Most people saw the best in themselves and others when, at some point they were overcome with hurt, disappointment, or other life challenges. We were never meant to carry those burdens alone. I am here to offer a safe, non-judgemental space for you. I offer in office sessions, walk-and-talk, and have partnered with Wild Hearts n Horses to offer equine-assisted therapy.

Where to begin? This question is so frequently asked and the answer is more simple than most think. The answer is to begin by allowing someone to help. Just allowing someone to provide you a space where you can begin your journey with support and acceptance. At the Center For Healing And Hope, therapy provides an environment of acceptance and understanding in which you and your therapist can work together to address any difficulties or challenges you may be facing.

I am a US Navy veteran who has several years of experience working with adults who are experiencing mental health or substance abuse concerns. I utilize a person centered, trauma informed approach in addition to CBT and I am trained in EMDR and Brainspotting. I have substantial training in crisis mitigation. My primary focus is working with adults and couples who are experiencing issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and addictions.

Whether it's a big or small traumatic event, we've all experienced them. I conduct client-centered therapy to alleviate and extinguish abreactions to the traumatic events we experience, in order to live our lives the way they are intended, which is HAPPY!

I help clients realize what powerful resources they have within themselves to achieve their goals, to solve their problems, and to heal. My clients frequently discover options they did not realize they had. I do this by using a variety of approaches, tailored to the person's past experiences, the issues the client is trying to resolve and the objectives the person is trying to achieve. My goal is to help individuals move toward a greater mind/body/spirit connection within themselves and toward enriched relationships with others.

I believe that the key to raising healthy well balanced children is to lead by example. Setting and some times re-establishing rules, boundaries and expectations for your children and family is vital for a happy home. My goals as a therapist are to help individuals and families discover balance and peace in their lives and to find a more hopeful perspective of life. I have over 7 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults. Some of my areas of expertise include: treating depressive disorders, ADHD, and issues of self-esteem. I specialize in working with males 12 and up.

I view being a Psychotherapist as being more than simply a job, I view it as a vocation. I have worked in both residential and outpatient settings. I help individuals with symptoms and behaviors arising from anxiety, depression, psychosis, obsessions & compulsions, traumatic experiences, addictions, Personality Disorders, low self-esteem, and anger. I also help individuals cope with daily problems or stress in order to lead more productive lives. I am licensed to treat Mental Health issues, as well as Chemical Dependency issues, in the states of Nebraska & Iowa. I am currently accepting new patients (for in-office visits only).
