Aloha! My name is Amanda and I am born and raised on the Leeward side of Oahu. I received my undergraduate degree from UH Hilo and my graduate degree from Chaminade University in Honolulu. I utilize various approaches as needed for each individual I work with, including Person centered and individualized solution-focused therapy, goal setting, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness practices.

Finding meaning through difficulty is something all of us strive to do, and it can be hard when life throws us curveball after curveball. But, that's where therapy can help. If you're looking for a non-judgmental space to process trauma, anxiety, grief, among other issues and experiences, therapy may not only be a place to examine the obstacles, but also to find the meaning behind them. "Zooming out" is something I help clients do in order to avoid getting lost in the here-and-now obstacles. Instead, let's look at recurring patterns and find out the meaning behind those patterns.

People come for therapy to seek help for many different reasons. Some are dealing with issues at work or school. Others are struggling with complicated relationships with romantic partners, spouses, or family members and hope to enhance these relationships. Some of us may be looking for couples therapy that feels comfortable for both partners. There are also those who have insomnia and want to come up with reasonable solutions. I’ve worked with younger children in preschools, older children and adolescents within the public school environment, specialized in working with autistic children in the classroom, and helped children, adolescents and adults in crisis at a psychiatric hospital.

Due to demand for my services, I only accept referrals from physicians or psychologists or insurance care managers at this time. As a DOD clinical BH therapist at Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC), I serviced our Active Duty Service Members, Retirees / Veterans, and their Family Members until my retirement on JAN 31, 2023. I'm also a non-paid volunteer, serving as co-chapter leader and facilitator with the Compassionate Friends, Honolulu, supporting grievers who loss children and / or siblings.
