I specialize working with: Depression and anxiety, grief and loss, relationship issues, codependency, personality disorders, infidelity, divorce/separation, abandonment and rejection issues, loss of purpose/direction, perfectionism, obsessive thinking, low self-worth, control issues, career planning, parenting skills, conflict resolution and communication skills, self-esteem, identity and spirituality, wellness and more.
Sometimes the hardest thing we might do is taking the first step to begin counseling- getting help means we have struggles. The issues we face in life have the ability to deeply damage us, but also the potential for personal growth. Be encouraged that the first step to emotional healing is difficult, but it's worth taking. We can know how to love ourselves better if our value can be affirmed by someone who cares, and you can face them knowing you are not alone. I can help you reach your goals for counseling, or perhaps even find out where to begin.

While my practice specializes in challenges around life transitions, adjustment, grief, aging, caregiving issues, and chronic illness, over the years I have also had the privilege of working successfully with people bringing a broad range of other concerns, including depression, career counseling, anxiety, parenting concerns, and self-esteem.
On the surface, things are going well, but maybe you've felt anxious or sad for a long time. Often times relationships, work, children- the responsibilities just keep piling up, and you're downright overwhelmed. You know that finding balance is important, but you often wonder what that even means. At the same time, you realize something has to change. Life can be painful. Therapy doesn't have to be and my goal is to make it less scary, help you feel heard, and encourage you to look within yourself to access the strength and tools that will propel your life forward. Let's connect!

I specialize in grief, anxiety, identity (who the heck am I) and relationships.
I love that each one of us has unique life experiences. Each life experience is different, some cause us joy and happiness while others cause pain and suffering. These experiences help create our story. Let’s explore each chapter of your story in hopes to find healing where there is pain and hope where suffering has existed. Let’s walk on this healing journey together to uncover who you are, to discover what you already have inside of you and to provide you more tools to make this healing possible.

The problems may stem from unmet needs (love, belonging, guidance), various issues (anxiety, depression, trauma, life changes, grief), or not meeting personal goals.
The CHOICES we make have a major impact on the life we live. It's important to find a therapist who is a good fit for your needs and I understand it can be challenging. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 15 years of experience, training and advocacy. I'm an open and accessible therapist with a warm, candid, and collaborative style. I primarily use an approach based on the dynamics of mind, brain, body and spirit. I look forward to building a trusting therapeutic alliance with you and feel confident we can meet your goals together.

Topics can include healing from prior sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, and grief recovery.
You have many choices when it comes to picking a counselor/therapist, but what is the most important thing to consider when choosing? Does the person appear to be kind? Do they have the qualifications to serve you? Does he/she make you feel comfortable and ease the anxiety you might be feeling regarding sharing such personal information so quickly? How does the office environment feel (telehealth or in the office)? More importantly, how quickly do you feel your exact problem is being addressed?

I help my clients learn to cope with adversity related to anxiety, depression, grief, bullying, eating disorders, relational issues and trauma, to name a few.
As a relational therapist, I believe subconscious beliefs and programming are responsible for many of our self-sabotaging behaviors. These impact our relationships and are typically inherited during our upbringing. I choose to work with clients who are struggling with the same patterns that have plagued them for far too long, and who are looking to make a serious change in their lives. I also work with clients who are simply feeling lost and looking for guidance in finding themselves. My ideal client is anyone looking to empower themselves and care for themselves, or their relationship mind, body, and soul.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
