I can help you develop the coping tools, energy and resourcefulness needed to reduce the destabilizing pain of loss.
This loss knocked the wind out of you. You tell the world “I’m fine” but there is a part of you that knows you’re not. Intense sorrow invades everything you do. The stress to get through, to be strong, to not let others down, is immense—you're exhausted. Just last week you felt some relief for a brief moment, a flash of hope. Just as quickly it dissolved and you’re preoccupied with searing bleakness—again. It’s not too much to want a break from this unwanted & relentless heartache, and find a place of emotional rest. It’s not too much to really know that this will end & that there is a way in and through. Trust that you can do this.

As resilient beings, we are naturally wired to adapt to loss.
Navigating grief and healing from trauma can feel utterly overwhelming. In grief, burdens, unresolved concerns, and newfound questions about our own purpose emerge in the wake of our losses. The weight of anxiety intensifies, casting doubt on our sense of self and triggering a quest for peace amidst the turmoil. Grief serves as a profound entry point to our souls, demanding introspection into our selves, relationships, and beliefs. Healing from trauma requires a trusted, experienced guide, to help unravel the wounds of the past, and help guide healing into the future.

I specialize in grief work, healing trauma, life-transitions, healing negative patterns and nurturing relationships, learning to get to the core of one's being through examining blocks that keep one from being who they really are, along with seeing and taking risks to do things in new ways.
Each person comes to therapy for honest reasons. As we live, we often get overwhelmed, stuck, we suffer, and lose ourselves/others. Through cultural conditioning, we have forgotten to see the sacred in grief and honor what was. I get to join with others to help dissolve what is blocking them from their innate wisdom to know selves and connect with others. When I work with helping couples repair, I get to come alongside each person to help them not feel alone in their experience. I am an experienced relationship therapist (and work in progress). I enjoy helping people become more securely attached and live according to their values.

As a somatic psychotherapist, I focus on supporting adults who are grappling with the very real, very human and very complex experiences of chronic stress, trauma, and grief. My approach is rooted in mindfulness, somatics and neuroscience through my training in Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, Brainspotting, Yoga and Meditation. From this lens, I offer a creative synthesis of tools - tailored to each individual - that are further enhanced by in-depth work in psychodynamic therapy, somatic parts work, and relational-attachment dynamics.

I've helped clients work through depression, anxiety, grief, adjustment to life changes, and relationship issues.
If you're searching for a therapist you know there has to be a good fit between the two of you in order for that partnership to be successful. I don't believe there is a one size fits all when it comes to life's challenges and no one size fits all when I work with clients. Life has a habit of throwing us a curve ball on occasion and it's nice to work through that with someone who isn't in the middle of your life. Reach out and let's talk. I take a strength-based approach and use various modalities to facilitate insight, reach personal goals, and work through issues.

I have experience working with clients who suffer from: PTSD, crisis, mood disorders, behavioral disorders, addictions, anxiety/depression, ADHD, Autism, and grief/ loss.
It is my belief that within each of us, the mind, body, and spirit work in unison to maintain a sense of balance and wellness. However, there are times when we may encounter challenges and unanticipated events that may cause a disturbance in these areas, which may be evidenced by undesirable thoughts, feelings or behaviors. I have the required training, licensure and experience to practice individual, group, and marriage/family counseling with all age groups encompassing a general range of presenting problems/concerns.

My purpose, my passion, and my plan is to serve marginalized communities in addressing and dismantling the long-term impacts of systemic racism and oppression. As a therapist and servant leader, I find fulfillment in working with individuals to navigate complex trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. As a society, we are struggling to cope with the uncertainty of tomorrow. Together, we can understand and explore the benefits in learning to operate from our value systems and not our circumstances.

Since 1995, I have worked in mental health treatment, helping others find solutions to anxiety, depression, grief, substance abuse, relationship/family challenges, and more.
I’ve found that the most effective counseling takes a team approach: I am knowledgeable about mental health treatment, but you are the expert on you. We’ll explore your concern together to find a solution you are comfortable with.

I work with women, gender diverse humans, AFAB & enby folxs, and those identifying within the LGBTQ+ community who are navigating major life transitions, grief & loss, trauma, and/or recovery from addiction.
In a society where we are judged for our looks, our bodies, our successes, our failures, our parenting, our partnering, and so much more, it's no wonder that low self-esteem, low self confidence, anxiety and depression are prolific. I believe these are significant underlying issues to many challenges in a woman's life and often contribute to self medicating; which can lead to addiction, trauma, and low self worth. The good news is you can absolutely heal! Discover your sense of self worth, learn to accept yourself along with all of your gifts and complexities, and improve your relationships. It truly starts with YOU. I can help!

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
