Human development and thriving can be difficult in this lifetime. I am here to be of help. The struggle may be an old or recent Trauma that sticks out in your heart and mind. Maybe it's the neurodivergent attributes of yourself you haven't quite understood. It could be you've been diagnosed with ADHD at a young age and never learned anything about it or how to take care of it other than taking medication - or worse, thinking that you were inadequate. It's possibly the navigation of unclear waters around your own psyche. May we create clear pathways together! Goals specific to your needs.

One constant in life is change. Change can often bring uncertainty and a whirlwind of emotions that we should not have to navigate alone. In the ebbs and flows, we often hope to move in a certain direction but get twisted and pulled by thoughts and circumstances weighing us down. What if you could feel empowered to embrace the issues in front of you and allow for a truer version of yourself to lead you in the direction you'd like to see your life go? I help people of all ages (individuals, couples, and families) in building self-understanding, self-compassion, and self-trust to support them in shaping the changes they want to see.

My clients often struggle with challenges in their relationship’s whether they be romantic, friendly, or family relationships. My clients worry about abandonment, often finding issues from their past show up and negatively affect their relationships. Some feel they may be in a codependent relationship but not sure. Our work together will help you understand how past pain affects present relationships. Then we will work at unpacking that baggage, organize it, and put it away in a safe place. Although it may never truly go away, you can confront it in a way that allows you to move forward and find happiness.

Challenges are inevitable, but defeat is optional. As professionals, sometimes it’s easy to feel hopeless & ignore difficulties in our relationships at work or at home. It's hard to ask for help when it seems no one is willing & when you’re used to getting things done on your own; but stress, exhaustion, burnout, weight gain, & other negative effects of inadequate or unhealthy coping are real & can have major consequences. Don't face challenges alone. If you can't change your experiences, you can learn how to cope with them. As a trusted professional, I want to help. Well-being, peace, & life satisfaction is within reach.

Are you struggling with being present? Does it feel like no one else thinks the way you do? Perhaps you’re struggling with your identity or not being seen for the person you are. Are you feeling a crippling weight of expectations for who you “should” be or what you “should” do? Do you find yourself constantly overwhelmed, having difficulty focusing, or overthinking? Do days and months pass with nothing to show for them, nothing changing? As life happens around you, do you find yourself falling into unhelpful or painful patterns? Do you want things to change for the better, to feel hopeful again, but don’t know where to begin.

I work with adults of all ages, especially Black and brown men, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and college students. As a personal witness to the lack of competent mental health care, especially for queer Black men, I work towards closing that gap. My work with clients encompasses career transitions, relocation, relationship issues, life transitions, living with physical disabilities, suicidal ideations, and depression.

Life’s events shape us throughout our development. They provide us with our highest highs and lowest lows. Therapy can help us move through those low moments, so we do not become stuck making every new moment feel as though we are experiencing it through quicksand. I have more than 10 years’ experience providing individual, couples, and family therapy to people experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, relationship conflict, family conflict, grief, adjustment to life events, stage of life changes, systemic trauma, and more.

Every journey has detours. Sometimes we get lost along the way. That experience - of having lost our way - can often be a catalyst for finding our way again, and finding ourselves, more fully and authentically than ever before. We often feel alone, especially when we feel most lost. But we are not alone, and the process of self-discovery can be made more fulfilling and productive with the help of a skilled therapist. It’s my privilege to walk with other travelers on this journey, and to support others as they move toward healing, growth, and restoration in their lives.

Sometimes our current way of being ourselves feels stuck. Perhaps something in you feels unhealed, unwell, dead, or disconnected, incapable, or inaccessible. There are innumerable ways to speak of a rich and fulfilling life, but I believe one thing required is a feeling a wholeness and integration in our way of being. Trauma, pain, shame, stuck patterns of disconnection – there can be many obstacles to a thriving way of being ourselves. If you can relate to this, I say with compassion: “Welcome!" I work with individuals and couples who want to cultivate deeper connection and fulfillment in life.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
