This might feel like a difficult first step in getting yourself the help you want and need. It is never easy prioritizing YOU when everything around you seems to be falling apart. I would like to help you on your journey to self-actualization, towards the person you are truly meant to be and towards the person you always knew you were. This therapeutic journey is about discovering and exploring together, as a team, which direction you want to go. As the driver, you will direct the sessions, but as the passenger, I will be there to assist and guide you along the way.

As a male therapist in the Stroudsburg and adjacent communities, I assist individuals with addressing the many challenges that persist in our environment, and that promote unexpected, overwhelming stress. I focus particularly on human behavior and the elements that we can control, to the extent that it allows the individual in need to hopefully reap the benefits of living a rewarding and fulfilling life. Historically, men are very resistant toward the counseling experience. I allay their anxiety by providing a friendly, non-judgmental setting for candid dialogue during the process. My practice is devoted to improving social relationships through healthy interventions at all times.

My clients usually seek treatment to manage challenges related to symptoms of anxiety and depression, suicidal ideations, childhood trauma, and psychosis.
I am so happy that you are here and considering the next step to healing and recovery! I am an LCSW with over 14 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults in case management roles, crisis intervention, managed care and outpatient settings. Through some of my own life experiences with grief and loss and traumatic events, I have come to see the benefit of both positive and negative life events. All of those experiences have challenged me and helped me to grow both spiritually and mentally. In some of my most vulnerable times, I appreciated and noticed the life changing power of a listening ear

I am passionate about supporting those navigating a life that is impacted by Trauma, Anxiety, Suicidal Ideation, Self-harm, Depression, and/or OCD.
As a trauma-informed, attachment-based therapist, I’m not interested in fixing you. I am interested in simply getting to know you. That’s it. Of course, we will be working together on YOU. But our relationship will be the center of the work. I ask that you show up each session as yourself, as much as you can that day, and we will take it from there. If showing up as yourself sounds scary, I totally understand. I will always work to show up as myself, too. You can expect me to tell you about my cat, or the coffee place I’ve tried recently, or to talk about whatever book I am reading. My goal is for therapy to be a conversation.

Reaching out to a professional takes courage. When struggles and unexpected challenges arise, it can lead to symptoms of anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, OCD, and many other psychological and emotional symptoms. Sometimes stress leads to compulsive behaviors, including; over indulging in alcohol and substance misuse. We encourage self-exploration into the patterns that keep individuals stuck, and prevent them from moving forward. We help client's capitalize on their strengths to focus on reaching their highest potential.

I have substantial experience working with individuals with history of self-harm and suicidal ideation.
Are you feeling stuck and need some guidance for growth? I won't offer band-aid solutions, only lasting and meaningful change. Therapy to me is a process of identifying and understanding who you are and where you want to go. I want to journey with you to the deeper levels of your struggles and find the light. The arrow is a powerful symbol to me that represents the growth we are capable of. In order for an arrow to aim forward, it must be pulled back with the bow to gain strength.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists

How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?

Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?

The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
