Not accepting new clients. The choice to start therapy can be a difficult one. Sometimes life’s greatest challenges also present opportunities for transformation. My desire is to provide a safe and comfortable space where that can occur. Psychotherapy can be a wonderful process to take much needed time for yourself. The world throws a lot at us. I believe therapy needs to be a conversation-tailored to each persons individual needs. Collaboration is key and my goal is to help my clients learn skills and strategies to increase coping and find peace. I also believe that change is possible for every person. I have been a practicing therapist for over 30 years, so I have dealt with all kinds of problems and issues that people come in, seeking help with. My approach is eclectic and personalized and is based upon the issues you bring, your life situation, and your goals for therapy. I accept most major insurances but if you do not have insurance, or an insurance plan I do not participate in, I have a sliding fee scale and we can make something work for you.

Susan Sheidy, LMFT, is the Grace Counseling Services Clinical Director and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Christian Counseling from Liberty University and also received her Master of Arts graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty. She is licensed in Pennsylvania & Tennessee. The late poet Maya Angelou quoted, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you”. Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and/or addiction? My ideal client is open to gaining insight into behavior patterns and problematic coping skills. I am kind & non-judgmental, but not afraid to give clients a little (figurative) nudge when necessary. I have experience working with all kinds of problems & diagnoses, both inpatient and outpatient, as well as individual and group settings. The majority of my experience lies in dual diagnosis treatment, working with clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use diagnoses.

When I speak with you on the phone for the first time my main goal is to put you at ease and to empower you to continue to move forward giving you support when needed. Life offers so many challenges to us and sometimes we just need a little extra kindness and support from a therapist to move forward and live the life that we know was meant for us and our future.

I address all issues from the perspective of a person's environment. We all exist in the context of a family, a community and a culture. In therapy we often find that there is nothing wrong with us, depression, anxiety, etc., are not innate dysfunctions but rather result from conflict that arises in our environment. I like to help individuals, couples and families learn about these environments to better navigate them as well as learn about themselves and what it means to be who they are in the context of their environment.

My ideal client is one who is looking to better connect with themselves and those around them. They may struggle with effective communication, or successfully navigating the complexity of a deep and meaningful relationship. Most of all my ideal client is one who is willing to be open and honest about their experiences and what they want out of life.

Greg was born and raised in Pittsburgh and graduated from Duquesne University with degrees in Psychology and Sociology, and Counseling. He is an experienced therapist and clinical supervisor with a background that ranges from teenagers to seniors, spanning both mental health and substance abuse. He has worked in foster care, drug & alcohol/recovery, and mental health settings. Greg uses a person-centered approach to help people through a wide variety of life events and struggles. He has facilitated groups on mental health, abuse, anger, healthy relationship skills, family issues, and works on an individual and family basis.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have worked with individuals struggling with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, anger, grief and addiction. I aim to create a safe, supportive environment for my clients to process their emotions, and to create positive change in their lives. I hope to help my clients gain a healthier relationship with themselves by challenging their critical self-talk. I have worked with may people who think and say harsh, or even cruel things to themselves; that they would never say to another person, or a friend.
