Technically speaking, I use an integrative approach that includes accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy (AEDP), internal family systems (IFS), attachment theory, feminist theory, polyvagal theory, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness.
Change is hard. Our nervous systems can interpret even the most well-intentioned changes as threats, which means sometimes it can be difficult to understand why we feel or behave the way we do. I deeply respect that, as social creatures, we are wired to process transitions through connection with others. I often find that what my clients believe are character flaws are actually intelligent coping responses—they served an important purpose at one point but are no longer helpful in their current lives.

My therapeutic style is guided by a trauma-informed lens, rooted in feminist multicultural therapy.
Life and change are hard. You are burdened by all of the expectations around you; work, family, and cultural pressures to act/live your life a certain way. Maybe you feel like you don’t fully belong and you’re stressed. I bet that you’re also having a hard time feeling happy. I help my clients live a more authentic life for themselves while also honoring their values and culture. My goal is to support you in gently peeling back the layers, navigating what life throws your way, and teaching you skills to manage all of the stress.

I rely upon ACT, DBT, CBT, somatic experiences, and Feminist therapy to create a customized treatment plan with the goal of walking alongside you in your progression to ultimate wellness.
Navigating life can be difficult to say the least. Even more so when you have stressors beyond your control affecting the wellness of your mind and body. Having marginalized identities, past trauma and numerous life transitions can make for a stressed individual. Unveiling your truest self and having the confidence to rely on your values, no matter the circumstance, takes courage. As a Black woman, I understand that there is power and healing in finding safety within our community.

As a feminist, I strive to address the social, familial, and cultural influences on the mental health of each client.
My professional interests are focused on depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, relationships issues, gender identification/expression, and women's issues. I seek to help people develop awareness of the impact of trauma, loss, attachment and abuse on their development, and the resulting negative and harmful beliefs; to create and practice adaptive and healing skills; and to find personal empowerment through the therapeutic experience.

With a social justice and feminist lens, I offer safety for any and all identities to share your experience and find allyship and healing.
Hi! Going to therapy can be an intimidating process, and my goal is to create an authentic and accepting environment to help you feel seen, understood, and give you the confidence to try things differently. Vulnerability can be one of the scariest, most liberating and empowering acts, and takes courage – so I commend you for being here, wherever you are in your process.

You aren't alone. Many of us who come from marginalized backgrounds experience a healthcare system that doesn’t believe us, take us seriously, or understand us. We can feel isolated in our pain, and the very system that is supposed to provide healing instead causes us more harm. This is why I approach therapy through a racial justice, feminist, disability justice, LGBQIA+ and TGNC affirming, and intersectional lens to ensure that your lived experience is both validated and respected.

I am certified in EMDR, trained in Level 1 of IFS, and work from a person-centered, attachment, feminist, and strengths-based approach.
I am currently accepting new clients, both in person and through Telehealth. Sometimes what we need most is to be seen, heard, and appreciated just as we are. Through my own personal counseling and my professional training, I’ve witnessed the power of healing through connection with another and this is the foundation of my work as a therapist. When we are able to be vulnerable with another person, to be truly seen and heard it can be liberating. I bring this approach to my work with a variety of concerns including trauma, anxiety, depression, identity exploration, attachment wounds, emerging adulthood, and substance use.

I do this by utilizing an eclectic, person-centered, feminist-based, approach that allows the client to take the lead and advocate for their needs.
Primarily, I focus on neurodivergent psychological assessments. I have a long history of working with autistic and adhd individuals and truly enjoy my work with this population. I also love working with the lgbtq community and providing families with a safe and welcoming environment throughout the assessment process. Additionally, I am happy to work with adults, teens, and children. Regarding individual counseling, I have a special interest in working with the LGBTQ+ community, women's issues, and trauma survivors. However, I am not currently taking therapy clients at this time.

I embrace feminist therapy by challenging traditional methods that often miss the mark on the unique experiences and challenges we face.
Feminist rage? Feeling disconnected from others and yourself? It’s no wonder. Women are often pressured to juggle many roles, face higher scrutiny, and have their autonomy challenged (e.g., abortion, reproductive rights). The constant buzz of stress, anxiety, depression, and lingering thoughts from past experiences or trauma can be overwhelming. On top of that, cyclical challenges like PMS and PMDD can amplify that buzz into a scream. If you’re asking yourself, "How did I get here? Who even am I? What do I want? Where do I go from here?"—let’s dive in and laugh and cry our way to connecting with the most authentic you.

Hello! I am available to support individuals in their healing journeys. I create a space for compassionate, non-judgmental conversation. I enjoy working with folks dealing with depression and anxiety, life transitions, identity shifts and relational dynamics. I particularly enjoy exploring shifts in parenthood whether that is becoming a new parent, “empty nester” or struggling to achieve parenthood of your desire (natural conception, fertility-assisted conception, adoption, surrogacy).

Although we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can move toward greater self understanding and more fulfilling relationships in the present. I engage with you based on a relationship of two people coming together as equals within the safety of the therapeutic container. My focus is on interpersonal relationship, however, I include art, music, movement, play, and guided imagery as another means to connect with each other and to free the imagination for self discovery.

If you woke up tomorrow and it was YOUR perfect life, what would it look like? As you're imagining this, what are the differences between this imagined life and the one you're currently living? You may feel stuck, unfulfilled, or alone even, with lingering questions that may leave you feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, and lost. Life has an interesting way of putting us in places and spaces that both challenge and change us in ways unimaginable, seemingly out of our control. Let's move you from being a spectator to a participant in your life story by getting uncomfortable, facing fears, and taking space to grow and heal.

Life is full, complicated, amazing and sometimes we get a curve ball thrown our way. Though each of us possess the tools and wisdom of healing, it is during those curve balls that we need someone to point out our strength and resilience. As a counselor, I am that someone with a bag of tools to help. You decide where we go, what you want out of counseling, and choose what tools you will use. Those times may come from parenting, substance use, hurting those we love, burn out, anxiety, transition, the world around us, not being able to be who we fully are, and questioning life.

Even the most self-aware humans can experience periods of confusion, stuckness, and destabilization, and oftentimes suffering has unconscious roots. I've dedicated my training and education as a helping professional to learn how to unlock messages from the unconscious to promote healing and well-being. I also strive to arm my clients with concrete tools to use independently, long after our work together is completed. I have many years of experience helping people heal, blending a variety of nontraditional and expressive therapeutic approaches with evidence-based interventions to meet the individual needs of the people I serve.

Do you feel stuck, stalled, and overwhelmed? Do you feel shame, grief, or isolation? You might feel debilitating worry, have chronic sadness, or even struggle to get out of bed every day. You probably feel lost, unsteady, and lonely. Perhaps you don’t know why you feel so empty and dissatisfied, but nothing you try seems to produce long-term changes. Or, maybe you are aware of a particular issue causing you pain, such as an unfulfilling job or relationship, and carry deep self-doubt or shame. This discomfort is the part of you that is longing for something different. But another part feels unsure and uncomfortable with change.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
