If you choose to work with me, know that I will draw from a framework of diverse methodologies to tailor my work with you to your UNIQUE personality, preferences, strengths, goals; and, if a couple or family, to your specific relational patterns and concerns.
Life can be difficult at times. Perhaps you are wanting to make some changes in your life, or relationship. I believe that most of us CAN make the changes we deeply want to, particularly if we have a kind and knowledgeable advocate to that process. You may have reservations about asking for support. Know that when you do, you are bravely moving yourself forward to a better tomorrow. I strive to be a compassionate, trustworthy, and enthusiastic partner to my clients' growth processes.

Update: Greetings! I'm in the process of getting my mental health prescriptive privileges as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 2 semesters left, as I am already a Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health Service Provider and a Family Nurse Practitioner. It just made sense to do the 4 semester connector. I'm finally just now able to accept new cients and wanted to update my status because I know my specialty is difficult to find and there are so many people suffering behind the closed door of their homes. If this has been or is currently an issue for you, please reach out. I can help you.

Utilizing an integrative approach, I help clients gain greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and bodies through modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, internal family systems, and mindfulness training.
I was raised in the diverse melting pot of NYC as a first-generation Chinese American, born to parents who emigrated from Hong Kong. After college, I moved to Nashville, where I had the wonderful privilege of traveling the world as a musician. These experiences afforded me the unique opportunity to hear thousands of people’s stories—from depression, suicide, grief, and addiction to hope found amidst it all. Through these stories, as well as my own, I came to realize the powerful gift of therapy and the difference that occurs when one comes to understand their intrinsic worth and their capacity to be seen, heard, known, and loved.

If you feel like your relationship is stagnant (or non-existent!), "stuck" in your job, patterns with family, or life in general, we might be a good fit.
Hi! I'm glad you're taking this step to feel better. It can be difficult to seek help and acknowledge when we are struggling, but the process can be so much easier with the help of an unbiased therapist. We might be a good fit if you are experiencing anxiety, uncertainty, and desire some compassionate support. I also enjoy working with couples to address negative communication patterns, and to restore trust. I approach the therapeutic relationship as a team effort. Together, we will address your challenges and come up with workable solutions for your daily struggles.

Many clients seek therapy to work on issues relating to anxiety, depression, substance use, family of origin, trauma, relationship conflicts, life transition, grief, or just feeling stuck or under-motivated.
Honest self-reflection is the answer to so many of our problems. At many points throughout our lives, we learn to ease life’s burdens by shutting down, acting out, or running away in attempts to find relief. Even our most destructive coping strategies were often the best answers we could find at the time to manage our anxieties, our desires, and our pain. When we allow ourselves the opportunity to slow down and reflect on our lives, both past and present, we deepen our understanding and insight. And, as we explore our lives without moralizing and harshness, we develop genuine compassion and greater trust in ourselves.

Why Strength to Strength Counseling? In my philosophy of the therapy process, people already have many strengths and resources when they come into the counseling office for the first time. Stress and strain, loss and grief, trauma, sudden life-changes, relationship difficulties, coping challenges, and mental health issues can lead individuals and relationships to points of internal distress and external behaviors that can be disruptive, distressing and concerning to themselves and those around them. As a result, individual happiness, relationships, family life, work, and school performance may suffer.

My aim is to help identify and process unresolved pains through a systemic view, Internal Family System lens, and other methods to give us an opportunity to find wholeness.
Being a human in an endless world of possibilities can be hard to navigate, but not impossible. I was born in Mexico and raised in the United States, and I know first-hand how hard navigating the world can be. Having worked with individuals there is beauty in complexity. We are made of different parts and one thing or one experience does not define who YOU are. I enjoy working in a collaborative form with individuals struggling around identity, personal/generational trauma, or other parts of their story. Every story is different and together we can explore your internal world and rediscover the “you” you are seeking.

My passion is to work with children & adolescents who struggle with behavioral issues, family conflict, life changes, self-esteem, and anxiety. However, I do enjoy working with young adults as well! (: My ultimate goal is to help our youth understand that it's okay not to be okay and to know that it's okay to seek help! As Robert Kiyosaki once said, “One of the biggest defects in life is in the inability to ask for help." Therefore, it is my belief that in order for a healthier future to occur, we must start by supporting the mental health of children and adolescents, as they are the future generations to come.

" We manage however, don't really feel plugged-in to life, family or even our self.
CLARITY, PEACE of MIND, CONFIDENCE, JOY and a SKILL SET by which to create and sustain a happier, healthier life, sound good? Let's face it, despite our best efforts life gets crazy at times. We can ride the slow gradual wave of disconnectedness until one day we wake up wondering "How the heck did I get here?!" Without warning we find ourselves in what I call an "uncomfortable comfortable." This turbulence is a result of life unfolding in ways we never imagined. Situations we've tried our best to "deal with" because "that's just life."

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
