My dementia work is solution focused and designed to support the entire family.
I offer support, reorganizing, and reimagining life for those coping with chronic illness, dementia, and losses of all kinds. If you need help getting through grief that's what I do. For the time being I am online, where I meet clients and lead grief and dementia groups. My grief groups are 8 weeks, focused on working through the loss, and getting you to your new life. The dementia group is the 3rd Saturday of each month at https://www.facebook.com/Riversidedementiasupport/- and it's free of charge. I approach life, and therapy looking for the joy while managing the tough times- not letting them manage life. Call to see me.

Working with others to achieve their goals and become the best version of themselves, to take control of their emotional state, and learn tools to move forward on a path toward personal happiness are guiding principles in my work as a licensed marriage and family therapist.
Taking the first step to reach out and seek professional therapy services can be difficult and intimidating. Working through trauma, feelings of self doubt and worthlessness, negative self talk, navigating family and other interpersonal relationships, and managing your emotional state is often necessary in moving forward on a path of happiness and personal wellness. Therapy can be beneficial in many different ways in helping you take control of your life and learn to manage your emotional state in the healthiest way possible for you. Having the opportunity to share in your journey and work with you is a privilege that I value.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in counseling children and adolescents, individuals, couples and families in a non-judgmental and compassionate manner.
Most people, at some point in their lives, encounter periods of difficulty, change and transition; when personal issues affect their work or relationships. Families are under a great deal of stress in today's world, more so today, than ever. Recognizing the need for additional support is a sign of strength and courage. Finding the right therapist, one that listens to your concerns, understands your challenges, and genuinely connects with you, can be difficult. My goal is to provide a warm, supportive environment, in which clients can develop coping strategies, problem solving skills, and confidence.

EMDR is well known for treating PTSD and many other challenges, including problems related to anxiety, autoimmune disease, grief, and family problems and other traumas.
I am now accepting clients in California as well as Indiana! I work in a Virtual ONLY practice and I specialize in EMDR for those with substance use disorders, trauma, or a combination of the two. If you are someone who is trying to cope with substance use, trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, chronic pain/illness, or leaving a high control group. I would be glad to try to help you find another, better way forward. And what that "better way" looks like is up to you. I see therapy as being a very personal and intimate experience for each person tailor my approach to suit each person I see in treatment.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
