I work with individuals and families utilizing attachment-based practices, EMDR, and other experiential modalities.
I believe everyone has what it takes to find joy, peace, and love in their lives through vulnerability and connection. After working through my own trials, I discovered that I wanted to help others and decided to become a therapist. I found a love for listening to others and trying to understand how their stories have shaped their view of themselves and the world. I enjoy connecting with people by encouraging them to explore new ways to find happiness within themselves and their relationships.

Has motherhood rocked your world, way more than you expected it to? Have you felt lost since becoming a mother, as if you've almost experienced an "identity crisis"? Do you feel burned out and overwhelmed trying to be everything for everyone, with nothing left to give to yourself at the end of the day? Does the mental load take its toll on you? If you are ready to learn some REAL self-care (not massages and manicures); like boundaries, undoing the mom-guilt, understanding the resentment and rage and working towards more joy, confidence and valuing yourself as a mother, I welcome you to learn more about Mama's Modern Village.

We experience difficulties. We are all worthy of love and belonging. I provide a safe haven, a supportive non-judgmental place to grow and heal. I enjoy sharing the journey as motivated individuals and couples release patterns which no longer serve them, while discovering their strengths, resilience, goals, and, new ways of being and sharing. Sometimes, we need to acknowledge our limitations and reach for help to find our way. I am here for clients as they explore feelings and needs, and discover paths to more vibrant, connected lives ~ while making changes, or being with "what is" with new perspectives.

In 30+ years as a couples therapist, I've helped many couples work through problems to create the kind of partnership they truly want. Most couples tell me that they want to feel connected with their partner again; to stop the 'same old arguments' from cycling over and over; to stop living like roommates; to end the painful silences; to feel heard and understood; and to feel hopeful, and happy again.

Our relationships with our children can push us to a place of emotion that we never knew possible. Yes, to the depths of love and devotion! But parenting can also be one of the most overwhelming things we do. And most of us don’t get the support we need to do it. I help parents enhance their relationships with their children, providing support and strategies so parents can be the people they want to be and build resilient and thriving families. I have dedicated my career to helping parents gain the tools and support they need while doing the all-important work of raising communities of resilient and thriving children.

Therapy can help name experience, holding the moving pieces that keep bumping up against the edges of your consciousness, organizing them, fitting them back together in a way that makes sense and returning them to you with skills to manage them. Sometimes though, the articulate and self aware client will spend hours explaining things they already understand, while still feeling unseen and disconnected, like their inner world is still being missed, knowing there is hurt and dissonance but needing someone to help them connect to it. My holistic mind, heart and body approach can bring you to a place of both naming and experiencing.

I work hard to help my clients feel heard and teach them the skills they need to cope with the challenges of life. I also help them to find their voice and teach them to share it with those around them. Life is challenging, especially in the tough environment we live in today. I love learning and am trained in a wide variety of modalities. A few of my trainings include play therapy, trauma, EMDR, CBT, and LGBTQ+.

Life can be complicated and full of traumatic events that overwhelm us. As a result, problematic patterns that negatively affect almost every area of life may begin. These overwhelming events may also negatively shift beliefs about self, others, and the world at large. Once this occurs, it can be difficult to repair without professional help. Additionally, trauma can be unique to the individual. It's not always a confrontation with mortality but rather, a deep hurt or betrayal by someone we should have been able to trust.

Working in community mental health and the broad scope of clients I have worked has taught me the most important skill that is needed in psychotherapy- connection! My greatest skill is the ability to build rapport, connection and ultimately a therapeutic relationship, which is the cornerstone of success in therapy. This happens through active listening, determining the problem's and diagnosis, then creating a personalized treatment plan with goals. My most successful clients are the ones who put in the work outside of the sessions to meet there prescribed goals. 'Nothing changes if nothing changes'.

Therapy should be approached in a nonjudgmental fashion. We come from all walks of life, and our views and values may vary. Together we can create a safe and inviting atmosphere for you to tell your story, and be heard. I work with children, adolescents, and adults from varying backgrounds with different presenting needs. I can assist you in self-exploration at your desired level: to help you understand past and present experiences impacting your current life; to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself; to feel healthier and more satisfied by maximizing your individual potential and better understanding limiting beliefs.

My belief is that patients are always the experts on themselves, and they may simply need a compassionate, neutral party to help them better know and understand what they want, think, and feel. A good therapist offers more support than advice and listens and pays attention to what is said and what is not said. Because people excel at doing what they are used to doing, change can be difficult. Having someone guide them along the way can increase one’s capacity for and likelihood of success.

Starting a new position in Park City & Murray June 3. It does not matter who you are, how old you are, what you have done, or what has happened to you. You are valuable just because you are here! As a military spouse for over 20 years, an immigrant, and a person that has encountered many of life's challenges, I know that we don't always choose what has happened to us. Sometimes on our journey, we encounter experiences that cause tremendous pain, depression, trauma, and anxiety. I would love to explore your story with you, and create a therapeutic relationship that empowers you as a person, and leads to healing and personal growth!

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
