I have spent my time working with a variety of clients suffering from anxiety, depression, relationship issues, as well as those with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
I’ve been on the other side of the counseling room. I’ve sat on the couch and I’ve been misunderstood and disregarded by a therapist before. My goal in counseling is to meet each client where they are, with compassion, empathy, and when appropriate, a little bit of laughter. I genuinely believe each person that walks into my office deserves the chance to be seen. Together, we can begin to grow and create lasting change. My personal passion is helping others realize their strengths and guiding them as they navigate their way to a happier, healthier lifestyle through whatever counseling style that may be.

I support adults facing traumas, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and the strife of life.
Always falling short of your potential? Does everything seem to unravel despite your best efforts to hold it together? Maybe the messiness has you feeling swamped and stuck. Perhaps you feel "different" from others and it’s hard to figure out what you need. You're tired of feeling constantly scattered, disorganized, and worried about being judged. If any of these resonate, I’m glad you are here. This may signal that you are ready for what's next and therapy can help you get there. Welcome! Together we can identify obstacles blocking your way as well as resources that nurture your capacity to heal, grow, and BE on your terms.

It probably hasn’t been an easy journey, but I'm glad you're here. Some days you feel a fog in your mind, a heaviness holding you back, or an inability to “fit in”. From starting school, changing jobs, coming out, or losing a loved one, somewhere along the way, your story got out of hand; you feel like you lost yourself. I will support you in rewriting your story and defining who you are.

I specialize in working with adult individuals with trauma, chronic pain, and ADHD.
If you're here it means you are considering starting or continuing your journey towards healing. It can be overwhelming looking for help, not knowing what the process is like, or how to choose therapist that feels right to you. In my office you can bring what you need, whatever that looks like. Get comfortable, maybe you want to kick off your shoes and use the weighted blanket. It's not an overly formal, clinical setting but a place to come as you are as we gently explore how your past and present are interacting and hijacking the future you want.

Instead of focusing therapy on how to make individuals more "normal", I work with you to recognize your needs, plan for success, and treat the mental health diagnoses that often come alongside neurodevelopmental diagnoses such as Autism and ADHD.
Therapy is a working relationship, between therapist and client, to help you meet your individualized needs. I will be a good fit if your goals are to improve coping skills, better understand yourself, maintain healthy friendships, improve self-esteem, and manage everyday stress caused by work, school, or social environments. I have a personal understanding of how the effects of Autism and ADHD can affect mental health symptoms, like Depression and Anxiety. That said, there are many things to celebrate about being neurodivergent, which is why my therapy can involve "unmasking" or finding ways to be your true self.

I believe that building a respectful, trusting relationship with my clients is critical to a successful therapeutic process. I enjoy working with individuals who are motivated to change and grow in their personal life. I have worked with individuals with neurological differences such as autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, mood and anxiety disorders. Most recently I worked with young adults to support the transition into adulthood including issues with school, relationships, stress, anxiety, depression, social skills, communication and self-esteem. I provide a safe, comfortable place for my clients to be vulnerable and transparent.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
