ADHD Therapists in Houston, TX
My specialties include ADHD, neurodivergence, anxiety, stress, and overwhelm.
Life feels like a constant game of catch-up, leaving you feeling drained and overwhelmed. You're often running late, forgetting important things, and struggling to keep up with your to-do list. People may think you're doing okay because you hide how you feel, but inside, you feel like you're falling apart. You feel consumed by worry, anxiety, and your fear of messing up and failing. You long to feel normal and in control of your life. You want to wake up refreshed and enjoy your life. You need a break from the noise in your head and a chance to catch your breath. I get it, and I can help you find joy and balance in your life.

I help adults, especially those navigating ADHD, trauma, or a complicated relationship with food, untangle shame, attachment wounds, and burnout rooted in a non-neuroaffirming world.
Are you looking for an anything-but-typical therapist? Someone who actually gets your neurodivergence, quirks, or unconventional ways of thinking? I work with people whose minds move fast, deep, or differently: intuitive pattern-seekers, sensitive system-disruptors, and those who’ve always felt out of place or too much. They come longing for intellectual hunger and emotional attunement at the same table, needing a space where overthinking isn't being a lot, existential dread isn't being a bummer, and sensitivity is not a weakness.

I enjoy collaborating with my patients on many types of issues, but have quite a bit of extra training in working with children with ADHD and their parents, as well as with persons with Asperger's-type autism.
Children, adolescents and adults with ADHD and Asperger's-type autism are areas of focus for my practice. I have developed a unique system of identifying strengths and weaknesses related to ADHD/ASD brain functioning, and then creating a personalized plan to improve life (e.g., school, work, home, relationships).

Hi, I’m Kendal! I believe therapy doesn’t have to feel overwhelming, it can be a space filled with warmth, creativity, and even moments of fun. I have a growing passion for play therapy with children. My hope is that I can experience the light shine through in those who might not open up as naturally. Meeting people where they are at is my favorite starting point to get to the finish line.

I am an expert in racial identity, trauma and healing, and ADD/ ADHD.
My name is Dr. Caleb Stephens, and I am an Intersectional Clinician. The reality of therapy is that it is inaccessible to most, and the majority of therapists gear their therapy around themselves, and not around the needs of the client, nor the layers of identity that exist. I am not a traditional therapist, as I am also a community organizer and educator.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
