If you are frustrated by the lack of resources and support for adults with ADHD, I understand.
Distracted? Feeling overwhelmed by "the basics?" Wish you could just focus? ADHD is real. The challenges it brings can be difficult to navigate, especially when other people don’t understand what ADHD really is. I know because I have ADHD. My expertise isn’t just from a textbook or clinical experience—it’s from my life, too. Whether you received your diagnosis years ago or just last week, or you wonder if you might have ADHD, I am here to assist you on your journey.

I'm neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed, providing support for ADHD, autism, bipolar, trauma, depression, anxiety, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts.
Feeling trapped in life, with a roaring in your ears and locked up in your thoughts, ignoring everything around you? Have you ever experienced moments where it feels like an overwhelming darkness is consuming you? Sometimes depression and anxiety can feel like they are devouring you, and all you can do to keep from screaming is to make yourself invisible and hope that nothing else comes your way as you struggle through your cocoon of darkness. However, as one of my favorite authors, Sarah J. Maas, says, "Only you can decide what breaks you."

Our trained therapist can provide help with, but not limited to: ADHD, art therapy, athletes, anxiety, autism, depression, exposure therapy, grief, marriage and family, substance use, trauma, and women's health.
At Bright View Counseling we are breaking the traditional mold of talk therapy and counseling and bringing a new, brighter idea of what therapy could and should look like with our ‘Therapy With A Twist!’ approach. Our therapy approach is holistic, humanistic, and person-focused. We bring the power of the natural world into the therapeutic process. We take walks outside, participate in outdoor activities with clients, and integrate activities and games. We also get a helping paw from our office dog, Charlotte, who comes into sessions to provide a furry friend to hug, pet, and receive emotional support from.

My background includes work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, mood disorders, neurodiversity, grief, trauma, various life stressors, and unique life experiences.
This quote by Carl Rogers, a leader in humanistic psychology, puts words to a key piece of the therapy process - “It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried…” I believe that feeling seen, heard, and understood can sometimes help make what might feel an unbearable burden, seem just a little bit lighter. I hold reverence for each client and their journey as it unfolds during the therapy process.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
