Hello! Accepting in-person new clients. Asking for help can be difficult but often necessary in order to make the changes that will improve the quality of our lives. I'm originally from Southern California and have lived in Charlotte for several years. I'm a licensed therapist with a degree in psychology and a master's in clinical social work. I'm skilled at treating many mental health challenges and specialize in anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship issues & more. I'm also a neurofeedback training provider. I have a gentle "no-nonsense" approach that clients find VERY productive throughout the course of therapy.

Those with ADHD often believe that they are flawed and broken.
As a certified ADHD Coach and Consultant, I help my clients understand their unique brain wiring and develop supportive strategies. I primarily work with College Students who struggle with executive function issues such as task initiation, time management, impulsivity, emotional flexibility, prioritizing, and procrastination. Their goals range from wanting to be more organized and less forgetful to being better at time management and balancing academic and social demands. My clients want to feel whole, to let go of the shame that can come with ADHD, but also appreciate its gifts.

Our trained therapist can provide help with, but not limited to: ADHD, art therapy, athletes, anxiety, autism, depression, exposure therapy, grief, marriage and family, substance use, trauma, and women's health.
At Bright View Counseling we are breaking the traditional mold of talk therapy and counseling and bringing a new, brighter idea of what therapy could and should look like with our ‘Therapy With A Twist!’ approach. Our therapy approach is holistic, humanistic, and person-focused. We bring the power of the natural world into the therapeutic process. We take walks outside, participate in outdoor activities with clients, and integrate activities and games. We also get a helping paw from our office dog, Charlotte, who comes into sessions to provide a furry friend to hug, pet, and receive emotional support from.

It's as if you are walking on egg shells every single day. Your child is controlling, bossy, stubborn and strong-willed. You've given up on 'my way or the high way' because the tantrums are just no longer worth it. Your son or daughter has ADHD, Aspergers, or is Gifted. You need help. You are looking for answers and solutions- and need immediate support to get back in charge. Some days it is absolutely exhausting- and other days it is so easy! There's the battles, the refusing to wear certain clothes, picky eating, not doing chores, not listening, not doing homework, acting out and the list goes on.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
