I provide teletherapy to adults in Pennsylvania ages 18 and up experiencing depression, anxiety, panic disorder, trauma, relationship strain, and addiction.
Change is hard but possible with effective therapeutic support. I believe that the role of a therapist is to guide (not push!) clients toward positive change and that no two paths to meeting a goal are the same. Some achieve success very quickly, while others require more time. I am committed to helping my clients work through life's challenges at a pace that is right for them.

Educated and trained at the University of Pennsylvania, I specialized in treating substance abuse issues using a variety of evidence based therapeutic approaches (CBT for substance abuse, motivational interviewing, etc).
I look forward to exploring your concerns, fears and needs in a supportive therapeutic environment. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families addressing substance abuse, relationship, mood issues ( depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc). I often work with family members who have trouble motivating a loved one to consider treatment, or who want to learn about their loved one's condition and how to best support them. I value maintaining relationships with other providers, including psychiatrists, other therapists such as group therapists, couple therapists, inpatient treatment facilities, etc. as part of maintaining good coordination of your care as necessary.

I also specialize in trauma & oppression, substance use, and/or depression and anxiety.
Ever feel like you keep hitting the same wall over and over again? Does it seem like no matter what you do, you continue to feel lost/stuck? Our past traumas, experiences, relationships, societal & familial expectations can unconsciously start to dictate the ways that we think about ourselves and how we relate to the world; we start to have trouble seeing ourselves clearly. As a therapist, I strive to provide a safe and validating space to explore the issues and pain that might be holding you back from being your most authentic self; helping to refocus your vision so that you are able to witness your own resilience and unique power.

Licensed in NJ, NY, PA and FL. It has been my great pleasure to serve adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of therapeutic settings since 2005. Many of the clients with whom I work experience anxiety, depression, addiction, or other disruptions in mood or behavior, that may affect their ability to live productive lives or merely be their best selves. Using a whole person, mindfulness approach, my goal is to help you identify areas in life where you feel challenged, stagnant or in need of focus, then work together to develop more adaptive means of coping and face such struggles head-on.

I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and have received extensive training and experience in treating compulsive sexual behaviors.
Compulsive behaviors impact all aspects of one’s life, including thoughts, feelings, and actions. They can lead to various addictions that include substance use, sex, social media, relationships, gambling, and more. People with compulsive behaviors often struggle to align their actions with personal goals and what is important to them. But I built my practice upon the idea that anyone can recover if given the right environment, and I aim to provide a safe space where clients gain insight and tools for their emotions, experiences, and behaviors.

Addiction Therapists

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
