It's not necessarily easy to start (or restart) therapy. I am committed to honoring and transforming suffering through a compassionate, trauma-sensitive, eclectic approach. I trained in psychiatry at UMass, and in child and adolescent psychiatry at Cambridge Health Alliance. My undergraduate and graduate education at Harvard, in visual art and architecture respectively, has provided a foundation for my comfort in exploring the unexpected and unknown. I bring this openness, creativity, and wonder to my therapeutic work.

People come to therapy for a variety of reasons. Some seek relief from anxiety or depression or support around life transitions or painful life experiences. Some feel dissatisfied or unfulfilled in certain areas of their lives and may feel stuck in unhelpful patterns they wish to change. Some long for more closeness in relationships but find it hard to reveal themselves to others.

I am a Board-Certified, Harvard-trained psychiatrist in private practice in Cambridge, MA. Most of my work is currently with undergraduate students, graduate students, and professionals. My initial consultation typically involves multiple appointments as I gather information about you and your concerns. Then, we can discuss pros and cons of potential next steps, and work together to form a plan. I see most patients for psychotherapy (talk therapy), and some for a combination of psychotherapy and medication management.

I believe deeply that people can change their lives, and I have dedicated my life's work to just that. Patterns of behavior always exist for good reason. They begin as a way of adapting to circumstances, then the situation changes, and years later, what was once a way to cope has now become a liability. There is nothing more gratifying than assisting people in recognizing these lifelong patterns in which they have been entwined, and learning how to slip those bonds. Understanding alone, though, is not enough. The hard part is putting together and implementing a plan to change.

Margaret Hughes, CPNP, PMHNP is a dual-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and pediatric nurse practitioner. After completing a Master's in Nursing (pediatrics) from Yale University, she provided medical care to children and adolescents at Mattapan Community Health Center and subsequently to college students at Northeastern University Health Center. Her passion for mental health has led her to obtain an additional degree as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.

I am Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry and have been practicing since 2005. I completed my residency from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts and my Fellowship in Addictions from the Robert Johnson Wood Foundation. In 2014, I was featured in SJ Magazine as one of New Jersey’s top psychiatrists. I have experience working with adults as well as adolescents suffering from both psychiatric diagnosis and substance use disorders and have extensive experience working in both out-patient and in-patient settings.

I am an adult, child and adolescent psychiatrist and Addiction Medicine specialist. I am currently full-time faculty at Boston Children’s Hospital and clinical instructor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. I work in the Adolescent Substance Use and Addiction Program in the Division of Addiction Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. I also serve on the Massachusetts Medical Society's Committee on Mental Health and Substance Use. In my private practice, I assess and treat patients of all ages. My office is located in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA. At this time, I am accepting a limited number of clients.

If you need help to gain or regain a good enough balance and a way to find happiness in your life, I have decades of valuable experience. I am known as a "psychiatrist's psychiatrist," a true healer, and one who is gifted at working with "challenging" situations" -- both individual and couples. Therapy is my specialty, and I evaluate and prescribe medication only for patients I treat in therapy when it is truly indicated. I particularly enjoy working with individuals who are more interested in developing their own capacities than in complaining about the inadequacy of what they find outside themselves in the world and in other people. I do not provide "medication management" if that is a primary reason for consultation. I am a specialist in dual disorders, and treat people with addictions as well as the full range of psychiatric disorders, like schizophrenia, bipolar illnesses, depression, OCD and panic. I often work with people other docs have not connected with, or considered too tough, because I listen, and am flexible and straightforward, yet at the same time thorough and safe. This includes those not ready to make a behavior change, younger people, those with unstable or complex conditions, pain, sleep disorders and those who don't want to take medicines.

I am a psychiatrist in private practice in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Services I provide include psychiatric evaluation/consultation, individual psychotherapy, and psychopharmacology for adults 18 to 65. At this point, I only provide medication management for patients whom I am working with in a regular psychotherapy. I have an academic affiliation with McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and the MGH/McLean Adult Psychiatry Residency Program, where I teach in a psychotherapy course and provide outpatient supervision of residents.

Dr. Jennifer Koch specializes in helping adults and children navigate these difficult times whether they are brought on by life stressors, grief, behavior patterns, or illness. I am double board-certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. I believe in using both medication when indicated as well as therapy. I was trained in CBT and was given the Excellence in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy during my residency program. I use supportive therapy with each client I see. During my residency I served as Chief Resident and was awarded the Overall Excellence in Psychiatry Award as well as the Clinical Excellence Award.

I am a Johns-Hopkins trained, award-winning Harvard psychiatrist, affiliated with McLean and Mass General Brigham, quadruple board certified in Addiction Medicine, Obesity Medicine, Adult Psychiatry, and Child Psychiatry.
