People come to therapy for a variety of reasons. Some seek relief from anxiety or depression or support around life transitions or painful life experiences. Some feel dissatisfied or unfulfilled in certain areas of their lives and may feel stuck in unhelpful patterns they wish to change. Some long for more closeness in relationships but find it hard to reveal themselves to others.
Therapy can offer the chance for deeper self-understanding, personal growth and decreased emotional suffering when provided by an empathic, engaged and thoughtful therapist in an atmosphere of warmth and trust. People must feel comfortable and safe if they are to share and reflect upon their innermost thoughts, feelings and desires with another.
I bring to my work 20 years of experience working with adults and older adolescents on a wide range of issues. I offer psychotherapy as well as medication evaluations and follow-up. I received my training at the Harvard-affiliated MGH/McLean Adult Psychiatry Residency Program.
