I am a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist in Pasadena. Utilizing both psychotherapy and medication, I treat a wide variety of issues including ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, thought disorders, and autism spectrum disorders. Completing a Child & Adolescent Fellowship as well as an American Psychiatric Association SAMHSA (Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration) Minority Fellowship, I have a developmentally and culturally sensitive approach to patients--focusing on individualized bio-psycho-social formulation beyond a diagnosis.

As a psychiatrist, I specialize in managing a range of mental health conditions, from mood disorders like depression and bipolar disorder to treatment-resistant depression and various anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, and panic disorder. I also have experience treating psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia, as well as substance use disorders and addictions. My ultimate goal is to do more than just help my patients achieve remission. I aim to reduce their suffering and elevate their sense of peace so they can truly thrive and flourish in their lives.

We offer a range of psychiatric and psychological services, including TMS, Telepsychiatry, Psychopharmacology, Psychotherapy, Medication Management, and Spravato (Esketamine). TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is for treating certain neurological conditions, like Major Depressive Disorder, and enhancing cognitive function. I've been in practice as a psychiatrist for more than 20 years, and feel very fortunate that for me, my work is a calling. Skilled both in psychotherapy and medication management, I work highly collaboratively with patients and their other providers. As a psychotherapist my work draws on extensive training in AEDP, EMDR, and other modalities. As a prescriber of medication my knowledge base is quite deep and vigorously maintained. I completed my residency at Harvard Medical School in 1994, and was on faculty at UCSF until 1998. I have offices in Sonoma County and in San Francisco.

Regardless of diagnosis, my ideal patient is simply someone who is highly motivated to put in the work to improve their lives. Rather than a quick fix with a pill, they may be open to a balanced, sustainable approach in which medications and TMS are considered alongside therapy, meditation, exercise, nutrition, and other lifestyle changes.

Having seen a wide area of complex patients with complex diagnoses and in complex situations in various situations, I prides myself on being able to step back and take a deep thorough dive into patient histories to really try and tease out all a person’s complexities, so that the plan I come up with can be as tailored to each individual. I also take less of a formal psychoanalytic-style of approach to psychiatry, and more so realize I am working with a person.
